Hawks enjoys being a hero.
Truly, he does.
The satisfaction of knowing heâs protecting people, often rescuing them from certain death with a single flick of his feathers; using his quirk for good, blood red wings shimmering in the sky like a beacon of hope to anyone who might see them (rather than the nasty, ugly, wretched thing that lives inside); and most of all, being loved. Adored.
Maybe itâs because of his parents. Maybe itâs because of the Commission. Hawks refuses to dwell on the why of it all. But the publicâs adoration feels nice, like maybe every ounce of suffering heâs endured â those tender bruises tucked into the soft folds of his skin and hidden from view â has been culminating towards something better and brighter. A freedom, of sorts. Or a reckoning.
He would do just about anything to keep that feeling.

notes: just a few hours late, look at me go! I love him so much, and couldn't not do a little something for his birthday!
summary: three birthdays, three gifts, and a lot of feelings surrounding it all, a Hawks birthday fic!
ao3 version
1
The first birthday Keigo can remember is one of the few truly happy memories of his childhood.
It was his fourth birthday, at least that was what his mother told him when he asked why she let him sleep in, which was highly unusual for him.
She promised him that she would do the best she could to make today a good birthday, because birthdays are special.
That was news to Keigo.
But he did understand that today had potential, especially considering the fact that his father was nowhere to be seen, which probably meant he was away doing some scary work for some scary people.
After Keigo made himself some cereal, his mom helped him get dressed in his least raggedy clothes, and did her best at trying to brush his hair, which didn't do much, but it made his tiny wings flutter with affection, and his throat chirp as a quiet 'thank you'.
When they get into town, his mom lets him go and look in all the windows he wants, his wings fluttering and eyes beaming at all the shiny things in the displays.
Then they go to the food market that has a lot of free samples, and just as Keigo almost starts feeling full, his mother quietly tells an ice cream vendor that it's his birthday, and he gets a whole scoop for free.
He can hardly believe that this day is real.
Just as they are starting on the long walk out of town and back home, they pass this little store with a bunch of discount items out front, and there he saw it;
The Endeavor plushie.
His hero, right here, in a tiny, holdable size.
Keigo didn't have to say anything, for once his mother noticed something.
She quietly told him to wait here, went inside the store, and when she came back out, she didn't seem to have bought anything, so Keigo didn't ask.
Keigo didn't think anymore of it until has was about to go to sleep, and his mom discreetly pushed the little plush into his arms and gave him a little kiss on the forehead.
Keigo couldn't believe it.
His mothered had wandered off before he had snapped out of it, but he knew she understood.
She got quiet when she was feeling a lot, too.
Keigo had trouble falling asleep that night, because he didn't want to close his eyes and take his eyes of his new possession, and wake up to find this day had all been a dream.
2
When Keigo turns 18, he is thrown out into the world like a baby bird about to take its first flight.
Except he's been flying for years.
And he is as far from being free as ever.
But what he does have, is his own agency.
And a fresh, new Hero career to dive head first into.
So, at the night of his eighteenth birthday, Keigo was not out celebrating with friends. In fact, he didn't have any friends.
He had been doing prepping work at his agency the whole day, and when he finally landed on the balcony of his brand new penthouse apartment, courtesy of the Commission, he was ready to hit the hay.
As his hand felt around the still unfamiliar wall for the light switch, and then found it, he realized there was a package left for him at the kitchen island.
A childish part of him thought maybe his mother had reached out to the Commission to send him something, but that idea quickly died as he flipped the card over.
Just some standard shit from the Commission.
Of course.
However, as he tore the paper off the package with this talons, he was actually taken aback with its content.
A small plushie, eerily similar to the one on his nightstand, but in stead of Endeavor, it was... him?
When he found the little note informing him this was the first, official merch made for him;
Wing Hero Hawks.
It felt oddly symbolic, the whole thing, and he hated himself for feeling like that.
He there the plushie in the nightstand drawer and tried not to think anymore of it.

Keigo's 24th birthday nearly passed without him realizing it.
But this time, it wasn't for the usual reasons.
Every year since his hero debut, Keigo had hid away on his birthday.
He hated the way the media blew it up, and all the extra attention from his fans and supporters made him uncomfortable.
If he were completely honest, he didn't like the reminder of how utterly alone he was, either.
But by his 24th, that had somehow changed.
Not unlike his on his eighteenth, he came back to his place close to midnight.
However, this time, his place was really his place.
It was smaller than the apartment the Commission had put him in, but he preferred it that way.
The place was warm, and homey, and Keigo actually liked spending time there.
That was all still new to him.
That night, he wasn't home late because of work.
He was home late because he had been out to dinner with Rumi, Hakamada, Taishiro, Aizawa and Yamada, who had all insisted on doing something to celebrate his birthday.
That had turned into drinks with Rumi, and just as he has started talking giving Dab-, no, Touya, his name is Touya, a call at the rehab center he knew he was staying at, Ruminator had decided it was time to call it a night.
When he entered his apartment, Keigo made sure to put all the little gifts he had gotten that day on his kitchen table to look at one more time, reading the cards and trying to take it all in.
Endeavor hadn't been able to join the dinner, but he had offered to take him out for lunch, and it had cost every ounce of self restraint he possessed not to ask about Touya.
At the end of the meal, Enji had given him a card that was signed by all the Todoroki's except Touya and a little envelope with a way too familiar handwriting on it.
From him, Enji had said.
However, Keigo new better than to open that when he was alone and bordering on the limit of drunk of his ass.
Maybe tomorrow.
But there was one more gift Keigo hadn't gotten to open yet, left at his office by his little protĂŠgĂŠ, Tokoyami.
Keigo dumped down on his couch as he started carefully unwrapping the small item, and when he pulled it out, he felt an odd, powerful mix of emotions overtake him.
A plushie.
A Tsukuyomi plushie.
With it was a note written with the tell tale calligraphy Tokoyami always used, telling Keigo it was all thanks to him that he had come this far, that he had gotten his first merch produced, that he had become the hero he always wanted.
If he were sober, Keigo might have held it together a little better, but as it was, the note was nearly drenched in tears by the end of it.
Still hiccuping slightly, Keigo headed towards his bedroom, still holding the plush, and made his way over to the nightstand, opening the drawer slowly.
He picked up the two plushies already inside, one old, withered and dearly beloved, and the other disregarded for the past six years.
He neatly sat all tree of them down on his nightstand, three hero plushies in a row;
All birthday presents, all representing a very different time in Keigo's life.
For the first time since in twenty years, Keigo fell asleep with a smile on his face on his birthday.
Aizawa isn't stupid, he's also a teacher. He knows when kids are lying to him, making light of a serious situation. This kid in front of him has his wings tensed, despite the easy smile on his face. Hawks has only just turned 18, which gave the Commission full rights in making him a licensed pro hero. Which is why when he manages to coerce Hawks away from his handlers long enough he gives him a spare key.
"No, no I can't accept this. I don't want to come barging into your life."
"Kid, I'm never there. Sure, I crash every now and again if I'm out too late but I've tended not to be in the area that late anymore. I have a home to get to. You'd be doing me a favour."
He tries to smile in a warm way, tries to differ from the fake praising smiles he imagines Hawks has only gotten his whole life. He likes to think that Hawks knew it was genuine, that he trusts him as an adult figure who actually wants what's best for him, not what's best for his career and appearance.
 ***
The first time Aizawa finds him, Hawks is smoking on the fire escape.
"You know, when I said this apartment was empty and free to use, I didn't mean to satisfy the cravings the Commission won't allow you."
Hawks turns around and Aizawa realises just how much he'd needed that smoke. His facade has fallen, no smirk on his face, just apathy. Hawks doesn't just look exhausted, he looks tired, in the way that no matter how much rest or sleep he'd gotten he would not be able to shake the bags from his eyes.
"Yeah, well, sometimes you just gotta give in, right?" Aizawa noticed the bloody polystyrene tray balanced on the railings.
"Not the only thing you've given into tonight?"
"Or the past week."
"Hawks?"
"I appreciate the apartment space, Eraser."
And like that he's gone. Hawks is only 19, it's not the first time he's stayed in the apartment. Aizawa had seen the subtle signs. It's the first time Aizawa had caught him, looking as tired as he did. He looked far older than 19, like he'd seen too much too soon. Aizawa couldn't help but think that Hawks wasn't too much older than his students, those who'd just graduated and those about to, nowhere near being a pro hero. All in the makings for sidekicks, or being introduced at a lower level, so young they'd have to work their way up. Hawks had been thrown in head first, so quickly Aizawa wondered if he'd ever gotten the chance to just be.
***
The second time Aizawa runs into Hawks is an accident, he swears. He'd been caught pretty badly by one of the villains quirks and muscle memory swung him to his old apartment's balcony. It also sent him crashing directly into the bird who was smoking there.
"Shit, ow." Hawks quickly stood up, brushing himself off, before noticing the state Aizawa was in. "You know I could've sworn that your capture scarf was not red the last time I saw it."
Aizawa didn't dignify Hawks with a response, simply choosing to locate the closest of the first aid kits he kept in the apartment.
"Thought you said you had a home to go to," Hawks laughed as Aizawa slowly peeled off the sticky scarf.
"The home does not like it when I get back injured," the gruff voice responded, before wincing as his scarf caught on one of the entry points.
"Oh my God, stop. You're just going to hurt yourself more," Hawks grabbed at the scarf as Aizawa tried to bat his hands away. "Please just let me."
Aizawa scrunches his face up, slowly dropping his hands as Hawks takes over. Hawks is surprisingly gentle, choosing to nimbly loosen the scarf as he finds wounds it's stuck to. It doesn't hurt.
Once Hawks is done he retrieves a first aid box that is distinctly neon yellow. Not one Aizawa had left. Hawks rifles through, throwing aside bandages and patches.
"This is the good shit. Not exactly promoted by hospitals and it'll make you loopy for a bit, but there's a sofa for you here."
Hawks lifts out a vial of blue liquid, alongside cotton pads and some larger dressings for the worse of the wounds. Aizawa pulls himself away, trying to locate his own first aid kits.
"Oh come on. You can't go to the hospital 'cause you definitely didn't get those doing legal work," Hawks sighed. "This'll do it's job, I swear it's not dangerous. I use it all the time."
"That's not exactly a glowing recommendation."
"Well, at least you're okay. You still have the energy to insult me at least."
Aizawa laughs lightly, the younger man bandaging his wounds, he still makes a show of batting away Hawks' hands every now and then but is mostly resigned to letting the bird do his work.
"I'm not going to like the answer if I ask how you knew how to do that, am I?"
"Depends on your definition of like. I got used to patching myself up after training sessions."
"So, no. I do not like that."
"Nothing to do about it now," Hawks shrugged.
Aizawa took Hawks' hands into his own. They were shaking, but rough and calloused. His knuckles were red and raw. Aizawa grabbed the blue liquid and begun to return the favour.
"I'm always here. I'll always be there to help, Hawks. Just because nothing has been done, doesn't mean something can't be done."
 ***
The third time Hawks is lounging around the apartment in what looks to be the comfiest pyjamas Aizawa had ever owned. Aizawa had let himself in with his key following a text from Hawks asking if the man wanted a 'movie day'. Aizawa responded with a '?' but made his way over anyway, relaying the excuse of a stake out to Hizashi.
A glaring light from the TV fills the room as it begins to get dark. Hawks had played action film after action film before Aizawa put his foot down and coerced Hawks into watching a period piece.
"I never had this growing up," Hawks whispered, eyes wide. "Tokoyami was saying they do it at the dorms all the time. I just, I wanted to know what this was like, so thank you."
Aizawa didn't say anything else, just let Hawks pick out the next movie, the next snacks. Hawks picked their takeaway. They both fell asleep at what Aizawa would consider a normal hour, but others ungodly.
Hizashi asked how well the stake out had gone when Aizawa returned at 6pm the following day. Aizawa found he couldn't lie to his husband. Hizashi was upset at the initial lie, but understood. Hawks was trying to be normal, just a regular guy. Hell, even a regular pro-hero makes time for a movie every now and then. Who were they to take that away from him?
 ***
The fourth time Aizawa catches him is the worst time. By this time Aizawa was aware of Hawks' mission with the League of Villains, he knew that the pro hero had been neglecting the commission because of it. The commission had been acting harshly towards Hawks in retaliation, Aizawa wasn't sure how that differed from their usual treatment but he wasn't sure he wanted to find out.
He'd knocked on the door before letting himself in. Hawks was curled up in a long black jacket that Aizawa pretended he didn't recognise, his red feathers scattered around him on the floor, a few droplets of blood on both the floor and Hawks. The younger man was asleep, a blanket had been gently dropped over him, probably by the owner of the coat. Who, based on the apartment temperature in comparison to the window being open, had only recently left and had not had a chance to clean Hawks up.
Aizawa takes it upon himself to finish the job. There was a worrying amount of feathers, more than Aizawa had anticipated. He didn't want to jump to conclusions but based on the blood he feared the worst. Once he'd collected the feathers, not throwing them away because he couldn't bring himself to take that away from Hawks, he sat on his sofa, lacing his fingers together and just watched Hawks. He watched as the bird drew breath, gently as an opposite to the loud gasping sobs Aizawa was imagining. He'd seen Hawks sleep before, there had been some crossover stakeouts, but the sight in front of him was different. Hawks was just 22, young, scared, controlled and trapped. Clearly it had caught up to him. The boy, that's all that he was to Aizawa, on the floor in front of him was different to the man he'd worked patrols with. Aizawa couldn't help but think that this is who Hawks was underneath the mask, the person he wasn't allowed to be.
"I tried to stop him," a gravelly voice sighed at the window.
"You know I should arrest you on the spot." Aizawa would not admit his shock at being snuck up on. He'd let his guard down within his worry for Hawks and Dabi had managed to return undetected.
"You should, but you won't. You and I both know that won't do him any good," Dabi jabbed a thumb at the sleeping mass. "I just, I tried to stop him. He was fuming, screaming, ripping out his wings."
"I was worried about the impact on his mental health."
"What mental health? He's just as fucked up as I am," Dabi yelled, quickly lowering his volume once more, he sighed. "I know, and I know you know. I'm starting to think he knows I know. It's a lot, it'd be a lot for anyone, but it's really taking it out of him. I'm...worried."
It's then Aizawa remembers, Dabi is mixed up in his own things too. Not really following the League anymore but reluctant to leave his found family, a family that now included Hawks, even if he'd joined for the wrong reasons. Â
"He needs a break, or just to stop."
"He wants free from the commission and I don't think he'll stop at anything to get that. It scares me. Eraser, Aizawa, I haven't been this scared since Endeavour first got hold of Sho."
It's then Aizawa remembers, Dabi may be older than Hawks but he went through a traumatic childhood all the same. He was also just a kid, robbed of the chance to be a child and now he was a scared adult that didn't have a hold of how to process his emotions, just like the young boy sleeping in front of them.
"Here," Aizawa shuffles around in his pocket. "It's my key to the place. I gave a copy to Hawks not long after I met him, used to swing by every now and then to check on him. But you need this place more than I do."
 ***
The fifth time Aizawa walks into the apartment it's a few years later and it's because one of his problem children had called him there. He had not expected to find Bakugo Katsuki rocking back and forth, with Dabi seemingly stroking soft shapes into his arms. Midoriya was mumbling to himself, while Hawks and Todoroki were making tea.
"Aizawa-sensei, I'm so glad you came," Midoriya broke from his mumbling.
"You called me, Midorya. What's happened?"
"Kacchan. His hearing blew out in a fight. Villain let off a grenade right next to him."
"We've only just managed to get him cleaned up," Hawks sighed. "Absolutely refused the hospital."
"I hate to break up this nice catch-up," Dabi cleared his throat. "He's signing something...but what the fuck is a K shark?"
"Kirishima," the teacher and his problem children sighed.
Aizawa wasn't going to ask how Dabi knew sign, he was sure he wouldn't like the answer he'd receive. Instead he turned on his heel, ready to set out to find Kirishima Eijirou. It was a well known fact that he grounded Bakugo in a way that no-one else had managed.
The sight he returned to was far better than the first. Bakugo was now wrapped in Dabi's arms, the pair lying on the sofa. Midoriya had calmed considerably and was making small-talk with Hawks while Todoroki was attempting to subtly reconcile with his older brother who's identity still remained anonymous to most. Kirishima immediately ran to Bakugo's side, linking their fingers together. It allowed Kirishima to slowly pull Bakugo into him until the blonde boy broke down in sobs.
"He'll be okay. Nobody mentions this to him," Kirishima glared at Midoriya specifically, as he ran a hand up and down Bakugo's shirt. "We knew this was coming, just happened a little sooner than we thought."
"His hearing aids?" Todoroki asked.
"They'll have to be adjusted," Aizawa answered.
"He won't wear them unless it's absolutely necessary. They've caused him far more pain than good," Kirishima shook his head.
"He won't be able to be a hero," Midoriya looked close to tears.
"He'll find a way." Kirishima smiled fondly, Aizawa felt as though he was intruding.
So he removed himself, intending to brew more tea. As he was doing so however, both Hawks and Dabi made their way to the bedroom. Aizawa quickly glanced at his problem children, before edging closer to the doorway, just until he could make out a conversation.
"We're not adopting another one."
"Hawks..."
"Those were your exact words when I said about Jin."
"He's just a kid, Hawks. He's been told his entire life he needs to be the best, the strongest, no flaws allowed."
"Dabi, we're not doing this. Who's gonna look after him? He's a goddamn livewire."
"Just please, can we this once, Keigo?"
"Touya, no." Aizawa wasn't aware that Dabi had revealed his identity to Hawks, or that Hawks would use his given name so freely. Likewise for Hawks, who kept his name incredibly close to his chest.
"Kei..." Aizawa recognised that. An undeniably, unbelievably soft voice from Dabi. The tone that his husband had used too many times and the tone that Aizawa had used only once. Aizawa knew that if Hawks truly loved Dabi there would be no more saying no.
"Fine, but this one's your kid."
 ***
Aizawa was going through the motions, the usual setting of his routine after a patrol. He didn't break out of it until he felt his husbands hands on his shoulders.
"Shouta?"
"Someone asked to buy my apartment."
"Well, that's good isn't it? You're never there anymore, you always come home after a patrol now...Oh. Hawks."
"Hawks is the one who offered to buy it."
"But Hawks has his own place."
"Yeah paid for by the commission, right next to the commission and his agency. Which makes me question why he wants to move so damn far away."
"Shouta, we're not adopting another one."
"If we did, we'd have to adopt another 4. Well, 3 really, I guess along the way I did adopt a few of the problem children unofficially."
"What?"
"He's got his own little family. I'm starting to think he picked up the habit of adopting strays from me. Two villains, a vigilante and a hero."
"Sounds like the beginning of a bad joke."
Aizawa just hummed, knowing that somehow Hawks' rag tag little family would make their own way.
Prompt: Hawks gets his with a truth serum
Fandom: BNAH/MHA
Words: 3,404
Summary: Hawks was forced to do a team-up with Kamui Woods and he really didn't want to so he finished it as quickly as he possibly could. To be for him that he was hit by a truth quirk while he's also supposed to be going undercover to spy on the league. He does the only thing he can think to do in this situation and cancel his meeting with a certain fire villain. Dabi didn't agree.
Ao3 Link:
âHawks be careful! The villain still has an unknown quirk,â Kamui Woods said through the comms.â
âOh calm down ya tree branch. Iâm fast enough to catch them and then we can leave. I work better alone anyway,â Hawks said as he flew through the air to search further.
âHawks, this is serious. Are you always this nonchalant?â Kamui asked.
âYeah. It just comes naturally to me. Plus I have to be somewhere later so we kinda gotta speed this up,â Hawks mentioned passively and it made Kamui roll his eyes.
âWell youâre in luck I see him now. Now I know stealth isnât your thing exactly, but please just try to handle this carefully,â Kamui said as he started to walk towards the villain.
âGot him,â Hawks says as Kamui sees a large red feather carrying the villain through the sky, and the said Villain screams in terror as he flies through the air.
The villain was handled with care but it wasnât until the villain was in cuffs and Hawks landed next to the police before the villain ran after him and touched Hawks on the shoulder before being pulled up.
âHave fun,â The villain said but Hawks didnât acknowledge him. Just shouted for the police to get him out of here.
âWell Kamui it was fun but I gotta fly!â Hawks said as he waved.
âMan I hate that guy,â Kamui said as he walked away.
It was once Hawks got home to rest before he met up with the fire villain known as Dabi that he received a call from Mirko.
âWhatâs my pretty bird up to,â she said excitedly through the phone.
âGetting ready for my date,â Hawks said automatically. It was after he said it and processed it did he realize what he said. âWait! Forget I said that,â Hawks said, trying to not out the villain heâs meeting up with that only the hero commission knows about.
âNo, you said a date! Youâre going on a date and you didnât tell me! Bitch this is tea and I want it spilled!â Mirko shouted on the other side of the phone.
This time when Hawks opened his mouth he carefully chose his words, âlook Iâm meeting up with someone in secret and I canât tell you everything but Iâll tell you when I can. I have to go now.â With that said, Hawks hung the phone up and sent a quick text to Dabi, not trusting his own mouth.
Canât make it tonightHave to rescheduled
âShit! This means I canât go to work tomorrow if this keeps up. Can I not lie! The commission is gonna fucking kill me,â Hawks said as he looked at himself in the mirror trying to figure out what was wrong.
A quick flashback happened where Hawks remembers the villain from earlier running from the cops to just give him a brief touch.
âI thought he was crazy, but maybe. . .â
With that Hawks quickly picked up his phone and dialed for the station that handled the villain.
It was after all the formalities that Hawks asked, âWhat is the villainâs quirk?â
âHe seemed to have a truth quirk of some kind. We believe itâs activated by touch but weâre still not fully sure.â
âAlright thank you,â Hawks answered and promptly hung up the phone.
âIâm gonna be in some deep shit soon,â Hawks said, but with no mental energy to do anything else he just changed out of his hero costume into a baggy shirt and boxers and laid in his bed, wrapping himself in not only his wings, but a cocoon of blankets as well, trying to forget about the awful day he is predicting to have tomorrow.

Canât make it tonightHave to rescheduled
âHe wastes my time by waiting till the last minute to text me. That just wonât do. Iâll go and figure out what heâs up to myself if he wonât tell me,â Dabi grumbled to himself on the roof of the meeting place.
âHey, Kuroguri can ya warp me. Yeah, Iâll send you the coordinates thanks,â Dabi said calmly on the phone as he quickly hung up and texted the misty villain where he needed to go. The warp villain had no need to know that those coordinates happen to be inside the number two heroâs apartment.
âYa know for the number two itâs really empty,â Dabi said to himself as he walked around the apartment and turned around just as the hero in question emerged from the bathroom, a pair of sweatpants on and a towel wrapped around his neck as he was lost in thought, but that changed as he exited the doorway and saw Dabi standing in his apartment like a deer in headlights.
âDabi what the fuck are you doing here,â Hawks whispered as if they werenât in private and coming to him as if to hide him in his wings.
âOkay first off bird brain personal space,â Dabi said as he pushed the bird hero away from him. âSecond you canceled and I wasnât having that. Not when my time was wasted and here you are just lounging in your apartment,â Dabi seethed.
âIâm not lounging Iâm showering, or at least I was,â Hawks said instantly, his mouth moving without consulting his mind because of course it would while the quirk was still in effect.
âDoes it look like I care exactly what you were doing? Do you think my time isnât precious or that you canât give me a dayâs notice before saying youâre not showing up to a meeting?â Dabi asked.
âYou look like you really care and your time is precious Iâd prefer it if it was wasted cause that means I get to spend time with you and I really need to shut up right now,â Hawks said as he quickly put his gloved his over his mouth and oh my gosh heâs so happy that he has his gloves on right now along with a pair of thick fuzzy socks.
âUhh, Birdie are you okay?â Dabi asked confused cause he himself have thought about making a move towards the Bird but knew he couldnât as he was a spy.
âNope, not at all I mean why would I be alright. Iâve been forced to work for 48 hours without a break or I would be punished and my current diet is killing me as Iâve only been allowed to eat salad and nothing else,â Hawks said as he quickly once again covered his mouth. He was revealing too much to the villain.
âBirdie whatâs wrong?â Dabi asked as he carefully walked closer towards the bird to remove his hands from his mouth but the Bird wouldnât budge. âPlease tell me. Last question I ask I swear. I have more but I wonât ask anything else after you tell me whatâs wrong,â and the comfort words must have worked because the hero lowered his hands and looked at Dabi with tears in his eyes.
âI was hit with a truth quirk while on a team-up mission between Woods and I.â Hawks said as he laid his head against Dabi in relief that he didnât have to hold it in anymore. It was surprising to the villain how much it actually hurt the hero to not tell the truth right now.
It only took a minute but soon Hawks was lifted in the air bridle style with Hawks screaming at him wondering what he was doing.
âDabi! Put me down!â Hawks shouted as he grabbed onto the villainâs neck.
âNot happening Birdie!,â The villain said happily and keeping his word he didnât ask Hawks a question, even though he really needed to find where the Birdâs room was at, instead he opened two doors before finding the room on the third door and walking into the room and carefully placing the bird on the bed.
âDabi what are you doing?â the hero asked, truly confused.
âYou need to sleep. You just admitted to working forty-eight hours straight. Hawks thatâs two days with no sleep so get some sleep and I wonât ask you anything till the morning,â Dabi told him, but when Hawks didnât fall asleep for five minutes Dabi gave in and slipped into the bed, letting the bird cuddle him, even if he was sitting up playing on his phone. Just having someone next to him where Hawks can feel a steady heartbeat made him fall into sleep dreamland.
When Hawks awoke the next day Dabi was no longer next to him, but the pillows on that side were a mess to indicate that yes the villain did sleep in his bed last night and just that thought bought a smile to the heroâs face. It was when Hawks walked out of his room and a wonderful smell wafted towards his nose.
It was quite a sight to see the villain shirtless, scars covering his body, but he wasnât bothered as he just added more eggs and milk towards the bowl and soaked bread in it on both sides. It was such a sight that Hawks had to rub his eyes and wack himself on his head to make sure he wasnât dreaming.
âOh hey your awake,â Dabi noticed as he gestured for Hawks to sit at the bar as the villain placed a plate that was made beautifully in front of him.
âI made french toast topped with whip cream and strawberries dusted with a small pinch of powder sugar and topped with syrup,â the villain said happily in his element.
âI didnât know you knew how to cook?â Hawks said as he took a bite of the food and almost moaned in delight at how good it tasted. Hawks had never had a homemade meal like this and it was wonderfully melting in your mouth.
âWell I used to cook a lot for my family when I was younger,â Dabi said calmly as he handed Hawks a cup of coffee, and when Hawks drank the thing black Dabi was sure the hero had an evil side to him.
âDid the quirk wear off or am I still not allowed to ask questions?â Dabi asked as he continued to make himself some breakfast with things Hawks was amazed were in his kitchen and fresh nonetheless.
âNope!â Hawks said happily and then burst into a smile âI lied I just lied the quirk has worn off!â the bird said and it made Dabi smile seeing his wings flap happily. What Dabi wasnât expecting was for a small chirp to come out of the birdâs mouth only to quickly cover it up.
âSorry, you werenât meant to hear that,â Hawks said with his hands over his mouth.
âHey Birdie look at me,â Dabi said as he put his hands over Hawks and gently got the blonde male to lower them, âDonât ever be embarrassed by your bird noises at least not in front of me okay. Their is nothing for you to be ashamed about. Youâre mutant you have bird qualities and none of them are for you to be ashamed about. All of them are just perfect okay,â Dabi told him knowing all about the mutant discrimination after all Spinner goes off about it at least once a week.
âI-okay,â Hawks said as he let out a happy chirp and it felt nice to not be reprimanded for a natural instinct.
âWho told you that those sounds were bad? And on that topic why were you working 48 hours in a row? I thought that heroes got to pick their own schedule?â Dabi asked.
And at this moment Hawks weighed out his options and fully decided to fuck it and follow his heart. âMy handler. I was raised to not show any bird qualities because they arenât normal and while normally yes heroâs get to pick their schedules I donât make mine. Never have. My handler is in charge of that just like sheâs in charge of my diet. If I truly want a sudden day off Iâll contact my assistant and sheâll do some magic but unless I let my handler know in advance and why I donât get the day off,â Hawks explained and he was not expecting the absolute anger to come off in steam of Dabi.
âWhat the actual fuck Keigo!â Dabi steamed but that opened a whole new conversation for Hawks.Â
âHow the fuck do you know my name!?â Hawks asked shocked as he grabbed one of his bigger feathers and quickly turned it into a sword as he pointed it towards the villainâs throat, after all, only four people use that name and one of them was dead.
âHold on Birdie one thing at a time,â Dabi said quickly trying to push the weapon away from his neck.
âKei wait! Iâll explain just please put the feather away,â Dabi said but the feather was only pushed closer towards him, one more push and it would draw blood.
âIâM TOUYA!â Dabi finally shouts as Hawks loosens his grip just a little before tightening it and pushing it close enough towards the villain to draw blood.
âHow do you know who that is! Touya is dead you canât be him!â Keigo said tears streaming down his eyes.
âCâmon ask me something only Touya would know! Better yet how did I know your name Kei! I didnât mean to drag you on! You were never meant to find out! Your blood type is B, you were born on December 28th, we were going to run away together! If I knew the commission still had you under their thumb I wouldnât have left you there. Look at my roots they are white! When we were sixteen we snuck out used my dadâs credit card and bought some cheap alcohol and got wasted! It was as we took our first sip of beer that we had our first kiss! We were seventeen in Endevarourâs car that we both said I love you to each other,â Dabi ranted just going through his memory of everything he could remember before he was tossed away.
When Hawks put his feather down Dabi felt relief flood through him and thought he was safe, he wasnât expecting Hawks to backhand him so hard his staples almost fell off. At first, he was angry but when he got off the ground to speak he saw tears flowing down the birdâs eyes.
The next thing he wasnât expecting was for Hawks to grab him and pull him towards himself fully locking their lips together.
âI donât forgive you,â Hawks said harshly unlocking their lips and forcing Dabi to sit down after he was sure he turned off the stove.
âSit your ass down and explain to me exactly what the hell you thought you were doing,â Hawks said as he glared at the villain.
âOkay a few months after my 17th birthday Enji was training Shoto a lot harder than the kid shouldâve been, so I stepped in, but dear old dad was really angry at this point. I think All Might had just been rewarded or something like that so I stepped in and he got angry with me. I donât fully remember what happened but I remember the pain of being burned alive. I woke up a few months later in a dumpster. Endeavor had killed me and thrown me away. I was helped out by a few other people on the streets and learned that Endevaror had blamed my death on a suicide. I looked at another news feed and saw you were introduced as a hero, but I didnât see the commission anywhere near you. My mind wasnât in the right place. Anytime I saw endeavor I saw red. I was doing anything I needed for money so yeah I was doing stuff I wasnât proud of. Then I was hooked on things that Iâm not proud of. Soon I was introduced to Shigaraki and he was a man child who threw a tantrum anytime he didnât get what he wanted.
You looked happy as if you had moved on so I was just planning to kill my father and then myself so you wouldâve never known. Then you appeared saying you wanted to be a double agent and I didnât buy it for a second. Sure the commission sucked but you had always wanted to be a hero. Then I started to fall for you I was trying to get you far away from them but you just kept getting back in my heart.
Iâm so sorry Keigo I never wanted you to find out,â Dabi said sadly with his head down in his hands.
âTouya I want to kill you so badly right now! Did you really think my life was better off without you! Hell, we talked about running away together! We talked about marriage about kids about every damn thing! We found ways to fit your siblings and your mom into our plans! How did you think I felt when Endevaror showed up on my doorstep to tell me that you had killed yourself! How do you think I feel knowing I was crying in his arms and then I was only allowed to stay at your funeral for one hour, after that the commission wouldnât even let me visit your grave. I buried myself into becoming perfect for them I permanently killed Keigo! Natsuo and Fuyumi found me drowning in Alcohol! I was a functioning alcoholic all while being the perfect pet for the commission! I almost killed myself to be with you!â Hawks screamed at him and Touya was shocked at this revelation.
âKei Iâm so sorry!â Dabi said getting to his knees right next to his bird. âI didnât know you were going through that! Please forgive me Kei!â Dabi begged not wanting to lose his bird again.
âOf course Iâm going to forgive you! I love you! Now that I know your alive screw what the commission wants Iâm not spying anymore,â Keigo said with a smile as Dabi gave him a shocked look.
âYour not?â he was confused.
âOf course not. You have a strong heart. If your with the league then theyâre not evil. They might be a little misguided but not evil,â Hawks said with such confidence that made Dabi laugh at how unbelievable it was.
âIâve changed Kei. Iâm not Touya anymore Iâm Dabi now. Hell half the time I canât stand to look at myself in the mirror. Iâm an asshole,â Dabi tried to explain.
âToga. Sheâs in the league sheâs seventeen. If someone were to break her arm and have her come back to your base crying what would you do?â Hawks asked as Dabi started to steam once again,
âWhoever hurts her Iâm gonna kill em,â Dabi seethed.
âYou still have a big brother complex,â Hawks said with a laugh as Dabi glared at him.
âI do not!â he said shocked.
âDo too! Youâre protective. Have been since Iâve known you,â Hawks laughed as he cuddled into the villain, sending a quick text to his manager to cancel everything he has to do today.
The two spent all the way till late afternoon just catching up happy to be in one anotherâs presence, not letting either one know about the shit theyâve been truly been thru without the other just happy to be in the otherâs presence.Â
âSo when do I get to meet the league?â Hawks asked and that was a conversation Dabi was not expecting to have.
âYou still want to meet them?â Dabi asked his friend? Boyfriend? Partner? Theyâll figure it out later.
âOf course. When we had our late-night meetups you always talked about them. I want to meet your new family. I want to get to know Dabi. I still love you but I know that you are not Touya anymore. Oh, pieces of him might be in there but your Dabi now. No more late-night meet-ups that could turn into one-night stands. No more alleyway make-out session. We go at a slow pace and get to know each other, after all, Iâm not exactly Keigo anymore. We take things slow so introduce me to this new family that youâve set yourself up with,â Keigo said with a smile as Dabi shrugged, âSure why the hell not.â

"You'll be going undercover. Your job is to infiltrate the League of Villains," the hero commission said, well the actual person who spoke was Hawk's on personal handler.
"Yeah yeah," Hawks said as he waved his hand at them.
The second he did that he knew that it was the wrong move.
"You will speak to us with respect boy," his handler said in a warning voice.
"Yes Sir," Hawks said, but anyone could tell from his voice that he didn't say it with joy.
"You better remember what your place is. You're dismissed."
Hawks gladly left without hesitation. He hated the hero commission. He hated his handler. He hated how he was just bait for the League.
Hawks flew out and headed towards his apartment letting his thoughts go wild.
He is just being used for their own personal gain. If Hawks brings the League down under their order then it makes them look good.
Sure Hawks will get the public part. Good job and Pat's on the back, but who will truly be awarded. His stupid handler.
Hawks gritted his teeth just thinking about it.
"If only we had more free time. If only I wasn't in a cage," Hawks said aloud, but since he was in the sky no one heard him.
As he landed on his balcony he signed in defeat and got ready for his new mission.
