There’s no reason why Pym wouldn’t work just as well for MCU than Lang. And while I don’t have anything against Lang, even if Pym wasn’t in the Avengers film, didn’t mean he couldn’t be. And neither was Lang for that matter.

And not important enough? He’s Ant-Man, Giant-Man, Goliath, Yellowjacket and hell briefly the wasp. Hank created Ultron (accidentally, while in MCU it seems to be Tony?). After Janet’s seeming death, he took on her persona and led the Avengers. Hank created the Avengers Academy to help young people that were tortured and experimented on by Norman Osborn, even though it was revealed that their profiles marked them as potential villains, Hank wanted to change that. In Fear Itself, he almost died (?) trying to save the city and the people and his kids (students) from Absorbing Man who was currently Greithoth, Breaker of Wills. The second he was conscious he immediately went to the Academy (with his team) to save the kids, and his school from an attack from Absorbing Man and Titania. He is such an important part of the Marvel Universe.

Hank was a main character in The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, where in he was Ant-Man, Giant-Man and Yellowjacket, and he created Ultron. Hank was in The Avengers: United They Stand and he led the team. Hank was in The Marvel Super Heroes (1966). In fact, if you mention Ant-Man, he’s more known as Hank.
