‎זהות מגדרית / zehut migdarit - hebrew (and english spelling) for the word gender identity. i felt this was fitting as it’s a larger umbrella flag for all those who’s gender identity is tied to theirs jewish identity

the purple stripe represents balance between humanity and spirituality within gender identity

the blue and white stripe represents the importance of one’s jewish identity

the red stripe represents passion for one’s faith and culture

the teal stripe represents advocacy for equality and acceptance

the green stripe represents connection with nature through culture

the gold stripe represents conviction within one’s identity, enduring hardships and pushing through them to come out stronger

the symbol in the middle is the Etz Chaim (jewish tree of life) and Star of David, both important symbols to the jewish faith and culture

intersex - a umbrella term for those who do not fit the typical biological binary sex characteristics of ‘male’ and ‘female’. this can be experienced through natural variations in internal and/or external sex characteristics such as hormones, chromosomes, reproductive organs, and genitals.

two-spirit - a contemporary identity within american native and first nations culture for those who embody both masculine and feminine spirits, or exist outside of the binary gender identities. while based in historical pre-colonial non-binary gender expressions, two-spirit was coined to replace offensive colonial labels after the loss and erasure of original ones.

the middle yellow stripe takes from the original intersex flag, which uses yellow as a contrast to typical ‘gendered’ colors and symbolizes intersex’s people’s right to be recognized outside of the traditional two sex binary.

the different shades brown stripes are both to represent connection with the earth as indigenous peoples, and the diversity within the community yet oneness that connects us.

the purple circle in the middle is also taken from the original intersex flag, which represents wholeness and unity. with the ring is the symbol for two-spiritedness, two feathers on a ring, which is used to represent unification of differing identities. together they show acceptance and strength in identifying outside of the expected binary and wholeness in unique identities.

the white stripe represents overlapping connections to the sun and moon

the light blue stripe represents connection to other/personal associations with the moon, such as dreams, time, etc

the medium blue stripe represents connection to the moon, moonlight, nighttime, or lunar energy

the dark blue stripe represents confidence within one’s intersex identity

the symbol in the center is the astronomy symbol of mercury, which has been used to represent intersexness as well as masculinity and femininity together.

this term was created for bipoc, gnc, and trans femmes who have historically been forced to be more ‘traditionally masculine’, but have now decided to reclaim this masculinity as part of their femmeness in mind, but can be used by anyone under the definition

the pink stripe represents connection to femininity and femmeness

the orange stripe represents gender nonconformity, trans and nonbinary femmes

the yellow stripe represents farmwork, field work, or other rural area labor

the white stripe represents bravery and strength in being oneself

the light green stripe represents embraced sides of masculinity

the dark green stripe represents reclamation of ‘traditional masculinity’
