Begegnungen auf Feuerland Martin Gusinde Between 1918 and 1923 Austrian missionary and ethnographer Martin Gusinde (1886–1969) undertook four research trips to Tierra del Fuego, a group of islands at the southern tip of South America. During his stays in this region, where he was permitted to take part in the usually secret ceremonies of native Fuegians, he was able to gain deep insights into the culture of the Selk’nam, Yámana, and Halakwúlup peoples. . . . . . . #springmatters #martingusinde #hatjecantz #tierradelfuego #cronicasfueguinas #nativepeople #ethnographicphotography #anthropology #documentaryphotography #rituals #barrenlandscape #barren #portraits #bodypaint #coffeetablebook #southamerica #patagonia #argentina #chile #thewanderer #folkcreative #wanderlust #outdoors #intothewild #slownaturemoments #whimsicalwonderfulwild #folkandstory #circularbynature (at I LOVE WEST) https://www.instagram.com/p/BrnLSlqF04Z/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=yftsc4rqevg6

Les Absents by Maxime Ballesteros / Available at www.draw-down.com / French photographer Maxime Ballesteros captures candid moments in a world where sexual freedom and bodily exploration is celebrated and commonplace. Many of his analog images provide glimpses of only a fraction of a scene—a pair of legs in suspenders, or the intimate proximity of bodies in a bath—nonchalantly shot from the hip, as he follows his protagonists to wild parties, into private apartments, to the early morning beach. This debut book from Ballesteros gives readers a unique view of the gritty, flawed, raw, climatic, and sexualised world that exists around us. A world that we are perhaps terrified to live in, but equally terrified to leave. With contributions by Caroline Gaimari (Purple) and photographer John Isaac. Art direction by #B.A.M. Some individuals strikingly resemble the art they are viewing, and Stefan Draschan has developed a special perspective on these picturesque correspondences. While strolling through the museums of Europe, Draschan captured similarities between the works of art and the people looking at them, noticing similar colors, patterns, hairdos, or physical posture. The artist has created astonishing visual moments that can be comic, poetic, surprising, but never contrived. The series, which he began working on in 2015, initially started with photo competitions by the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin and the magazine art-Das Kunstmagazin. It immediately took off on the Internet, where the
