The man you like shows up onscreen for one second and that's way more important to you than the actual substantial content regarding a prominent female character.)

The fact that people utterly despise Dark Enchantress and think she's utterly irredeemable and the worst person in the story, and who didn't bat an eye at the fact Burning Spice both got let go way too easy and had a completely wasted potential believable redemption arc, all the while BEGGING and PRAYING and HOPING so intensely for a Shadow Milk redemption arc, it's all very telling of how much yall kind of just don't like women.
Dark Enchantress, while having done horrible things, is ultimately still decently sympathetic and is only acting out of anger, desperation and pain; but, she's a woman, so she's a devil actually. Burning Spice is a man, but oh no, what's that? We can't put him in cutesy twink sugoi yaoi because his foil is a woman? And a confident, proud one at that? Oh well, he's not worth thinking about. THE SADISM CLOWN? FUCK YES BRING ON THE TWINK YAOI AND REDEMPTION ARCS AND FLUFF AND HURT AND COMFORT. like come on man. get your act together

by the way the cookie run fanbase has genuinely given me a taste of what aro people must feel in basically every other fandom. my interest has genuinely sort of dipped in recent times because when i look at fanmade content it's all just shallow ship content and characters aren't allowed to exist on their own if they're not paired with someone else. this is specially sickeningly obnoxious in the case of shadow milk and pure vanilla because i've always loved them both, a lot in fact, and while their relationship is really interesting indepth and nuanced i would LIKE for them to be able to exist outside of it maybe??? please????? not like the fanbase ever gets their dynamics or writing right anyways, it's all just the same generic loveydovey enemies to lovers bullshit that you've seen a million times before. oh this has also extended to white lily EVEN THOUGH SILENT SALT DOESN'T EVEN FUCKING EXIST YET???? HOW ARE YOU MAKING HER ENTIRE EXISTENCE REVOLVE A CHARACTER WHO WE HAVEN'T EVEN SEEN YET???? fuck man I honestly kind of miss when the beast x ancient dynamics weren't there; as much as i do love the writing present in canon, it just leads to the characters being treated as a package deal in fanmade content, not allowed to exist or be appreciated on their own in any capacity. it's gotten tedious, it's gotten old. I miss when the ancients' dynamics with each other were the popular focus, because THEN people had 5 characters to work with and think about and get intricate with and it led to a lot of interesting different personal interpretations; that's barely present anymore.
generally, it's gotten really tedious how the cookie run fanbase simply reduces characters to relationships and tropes, refusing to look at them indepth or allowing them to exist on their own or hell ever looking at any dynamics other than the ones of the specific ship they've latched on to. the game's gotten way too damn popular and the fan content's become way too shallow and uninteresting as a result. god bless the people who can just stick to the source material and be happy with that, may they never know the tedium endured by people who partially depend on fan content and engagement in order to retain interest in a piece of media.
please make Fount of Knowledge a cunt. please please please make him a right fucking cunt. make him angry and bitter and on the brink of snapping at any given time and only able to restrain himself because he has to otherwise he's completely failed his purpose. you can make him suffer, you can give him self-loathing, but please make it spawn from his repressed rage and self-destructive commitment to his position. let characters have "evil" traits while still being sympathetic. let him be angry, weirdly mean, a bit egotistical, and suffering because as far as he's been taught he's not supposed to feel that way.
like okay if you'll let me be pretentious for a moment. am i the only one who's genuinely gotten kind of sick of corrupted villains being depicted as totally innocent people who were pure and kind and perfect before becoming who they are as villains? am i the only one who's gotten sick of acting like every turn to villainy is a full-on 180 heel-turn done out of desperation and nothing else? am i genuinely just insane for thinking that maybe, just maybe, the negative traits a Villain Who Wasn't Always A Villain exhibits are traits that were there since before they became a villain and that just became horribly maladapted and out of control after either enough time or after the wrong set of events? that villains SHOULDN'T just be completely and utterly unrecognizable from who they used to be? or are you just gonna keep giving Shadow Milk issues he absolutely doesn't have so you can try to depict him as some poor little flawed victim who just needs love?
and, to be quite honest; am i insane for getting fucking sick of people acting like Fount's personality would have been "Pure Vanilla but miserable"? am i genuinely that fucking nuts for thinking maybe you shouldn't base his personality so fucking strongly off another character's, and that maybe that indicates a lack of creativity and confidence when it comes to character writing? Like, seriously, is THIS the best you can do? come on, people. Let him be bitter, let him be jaded, let him be horribly repressed, let him be interesting.
