If Tetsuo and Tsuki had kid(s) what do you think they'd look like?

Not a cringe question actually!! I think what-if children are always fun

I'm ngl, I'm actually so attached to the Tsuki/Sora kids, Tenko and Michi as characters. So when I picture Tsuki and Tetsuo having kids my brain tends to default to just picturing Tenko and Michi; They're just too fun and cute to not use an excuse to have them as the kids in question

In my perfect world where the Hatake never get wiped out, I think I'd let Michi and Tenko exist fr.

Sora wakes up one day like "I wanna kid. But I don't wanna find a baby daddy bc relationships sound annoying" and then asks her buddy Tsuki for help bc she knows he's down to clown and also this general event will definitely raise Tetsuo's blood pressure; So we get sperm donor Tsuki helping his best friend out with the bonus of getting his very own child shaped squishy thing to poke.

Quoting smthn from my notesapp bc it's funny and relevant:

Sora, drunk and thinking ab how cute and impressionable Sakumo is, says, "I want a baby." And all three of them have very different thoughts about what this would mean.

Tetsuo: (Something soft and precious. Something to teach and to hold and protect.)

Tsuki + Sora: (actively picturing handing a toddler a loaded gun)

Tetsuo is right there the entire time and functionally acts like a second father— both him and Tsuki get very protective of Sora when she's pregnant and when the kid(s) are here, Tetsuo in particular seems to become THE mother most ever. He is the godfather and uncle and the kids are basically his anyways, and everyone knows it.

Tsuki and Sora are very happy with this outcome for several reasons— the closeness to Tetsuo, who is both of their friends and special person (even if Tsuki is forever more intense); the ease of the burden of childcare; getting to watch Tetsuo's blood pressure rise (always brings them back to their youth of bullying him (sighs fondly)); Getting to see Tetsuo be The Mother Most Ever(tm); Even easier access to Tetsuo cooking for them (possibly their true plot all along); The list goes on, they're both very happy

Tetsuo is, by the way, 10000% the reason why Tenko came out so sane and normal. Tenko idolizes his uncle and Tetsuo was undoubtedly a wonderful influence on him. Unfortunately for everyone, Tetsuo was NOT able to replicate this on Michi, who remains daddy's little monster and a terror to behold. Tsuki on steroids but also an evil little girl. NO ONE is ready for her reign of terror </3

I'm getting off topic but if we're talking Tsuki and Tetsuo kids, I'm gonna say probably just Michi and Tenko bc I love them and the narrative of three friends raising them together. But also ik that's not ur actual question so !!

Designed a proper Tetsuo/Tsuki love child just for u <3

Her name is Kiara and I think she's a weapon expert specializing in blades. She inherited some of the whispers of the spiral— but unlike Michi, who gives into them fully and has become Something Other(tm) because of it, Kiara actively fights the voices.

She uses meditation and various samurai techniques and beliefs (taught to her by her father Tetsuo and grandfather Maru) to keep herself centered and sane. She has a very impressive mental fortitude and probably some sort of relationships among the Yamanaka clan— who she's often gone to for training her minds defenses.

She takes after Tetsuo a lot in personality— no nonsense and collected, very good self control, resting bitch face, that sort of thing. But she's also very direct and blunt in that way Tsuki tends to be— never afraid to speak up or cross lines or state her opinion on something. A real does what she wants when she wants kinda girl, often mistaken for a good rule follower (which she is... usually. Ish.)

(It's to note this might also be a bit of Haruka's influence on her, as I imagine Kiara would be around Sakumo's age and a playmate of his)

In a world where she exists alongside Tenko and Michi, I see her as the eldest child who spends a lot of time away from home.

She likes going on journeys and finding people to teach her new things; She's essentially on this one big, life long quest to have perfect control of herself and the whispers of the spirals. She's gonna go find some waterfalls to sit and meditate under or smthn

I think she has the bad luck of often getting wrapped up in jinchuriki things and trying to awkwardly exit stage left without making too many waves (she will make waves whether she wants to or not.)

She can hear the voices of yokai, even ones hidden from the prying eyes of mere mortal shinobi, so she is 100% standing there stone faced trying very hard to pretend like she doesn't hear Shukaku cursing up a storm inside their vessel. Just trying SO hard to act like everything is ok and she's on her way rn u guys, she promises, please don't get her wrapped up in this shit show 👍

She's allergic to nonsense and adventures; Not in the sense that it repels her, but in the sense it gives her hives and she does not want to be involved. Leave her alone to her journey of self discovery !!! She doesn't wanna know your tragic back story !!!

I think. Much like Kiara is a weapons expert, Tenko ends up being a seals specialist like his mama; So all of Kiara's seals, especially the storage ones, are custom made for her by her little brother. She also wears her grandmother Mioki's earrings; Previously worn by Tetsuo, and given to her when she left the village for her very first solo journey.

Side note -> She's not actually a registered shinobi with the village, she's documented as a civilian/samurai, which is why she gets away with leaving so often. Konoha, along with most of the shinobi world, is pretty much entirely unaware of her, and as shes very good at keeping under the radar. It helps that she advertises herself as a wandering swordsman; As shinobi often look down on those who aren't shinobi

It also helps that Tsuki himself was never listed as an active duty shinobi; So even while there was probably some form of small scale gossip ab Tetsuo— the Hatake clan head for a time — 's kid not even being a "real shinobi" it was quickly moved past.

It's really too bad that she's so haunted by the spiral, as she really truly does love the sea. I think she's called to it on a few fronts; From the spiral, yes, but from her Hoshigaki ancestry too. She holds a strange mix of longing, fascination, and fear for the ocean.

Side tangent about Tenko because I'm thinking about him now:

So, you may remember that Sora was born in a bloodline hunter camp as the product of blood theft (read; kidnapping and assault) of some man from wind country who died some time before her birth. Sora was expected to be born with his bloodline limit, but when she wasn't, she was dubbed a failure and used as the camps pack mule/bait till eventually Haruka found and saved her (and flattened the entire blood hunter camp)

It's never really touched on, but the bloodline limit in question they were trying to steal was of a clan supposedly able to see into the future or receive prophetic dreams— along with oni-style horns and a third eye on their forehead.

Sora, born with neither of the latter two things, is assumed to be similarly lacking in the prophecy department.

(Sometimes, she dreams of a red moon. She's dies believing it's surely nothing but a strange, reoccurring dream.)

Anyways the point of this side tangent is to say that I think Tenko has a really good 6th sense. He's very good at guessing games and often the first to sense when something is wrong, or to identify the odd person out or to find missing things. It's sort of assumed this, especially his sensitivity to things yokai related, come from Tsuki's spiral sides of things + just good instincts— but it actually skews much more in the direction of Sora's own, mostly dormant bloodline limit.

anyways, in conclusion:

Warring States Hatake OC things !

Continuing the warring states era Hatake oc train as I try to fill up all 21 slots for the clan !!! I honestly don't know if I'll make all 21, but I'd like to at least give them all names, just to make the world feel lived in. I might ask someone else to donate an oc or two in the future to guest star in the cast, idk

But anyways !!!! In a clan who loves to adopt, it stands to reason that they ofc have people among them who weren't born Hatake.

With that said: Pyromaniac explosion enthusiast Hatake who was a failed bloodline theft anyone ???

Both Sora and Tsuki are pretty fucking horrendous towards Tetsuo, but in large part it's Tsuki leading the charge. Sora follows his lead, as he's the first friend she made in the clan. They're honestly pretty close

Meanwhile: Sora remains the biggest Haruka fan ever. Being saved from the bloodline thief camp by the woman really cemented her in her mind as her hero.

After Sora lost her arm at 12 when playing with an explosion seal she'd explicitly been told not to play with, Tsuki proposed they learn to do hand signs together.

Sora would eventually be able to figure out how to do pull off a jutsu with only one hand, but it takes a long time to get there— and even when she is there, it still takes longer than if she had 2 hands. Working with Tsuki, they can both pull off just about any jutsu as fast as any one person can. Faster, even

I was gonna draw 2 more pages for this, of the actual drowning attempt, but I got tired and wanted to post this today so you get a summary of what comes next instead. (Maybe I'll finish drawing it and post it separately another day)

Tsuki and Sora bullied Tetsuo pretty relentlessly till the boys were about 13, when Tsuki took things a step too far and basically tried to drown Tetsuo. Tetsuo fought back, beating both Tsuki and Sora's asses pretty soundly— and catching Haruka's attention in the process.

Seeing Tetsuo fend off the other two made up Haruka's mind, and she declared he'd be her new heir. Which he... didn't actually want to be. Oops!

Sora was pretty effectively scared out of bullying Tetsuo any further, and Tsuki mellowed out a good amount— though he remained mischievous, but that was pretty standard for him.

The blue tint of Tetsuo's skin would fade only some months later as he grew out of his Hoshigaki traits and into his Hatake blood. This also helped to lessen teasing from the other kids, along with the whole "he's the new clan heir now" thing.

Good for him.

The next day Tetsuo is super pissy and sleep deprived while Tsuki is suspiciously smug and well rested. On the bright side, Tetsuo has officially learned his lesson and will now refuse to let Tsuki ever give anyone anything he's drawn ominous spirals on.

As adults, Tetsuo and Tsuki are... fine, honestly. They're friends, in a way. Might even be counted as close— or as close as you can be, with Tsuki.

The fact that Tsuki got himself permanantly posessed by an Uzu spiral demon on that mission gone wrong in Wave doesn't make things as complicated than you'd think. Tetsuo seems to often land himself in the position of acting as Tsuki (and often times Sora's) handler.

I had a few more things I wanted to draw, but ran out of time. I'll probably just try and draw and post it later. No Sora piercing lore, Daisuke introduction post or full Tetsuo drowning comic for you!!! (Yet)

Umm final thoughts:

His stripes were half supposed to resemble gills (bc I thought it was ironic,,) and half supposed to resemble cat stripes of some kind (also bc I thought it was funny but mostly bc Tsuki is cat coded to me). I haven't assigned his stripes a specific meaning yet, but it likely represented something sharp or clever, like the twins 'clever hunter' stripes. Tbh it might end up having a feline association

I have actually draw woman Tetsuo like one singular time, I posted it too but I can't find it anymore. It's definitely out there tho! In one of my rare posts of assorted unrelated doodles and drawings, I think.

Anyways !!

I think Sora has my favorite gender swapped design tbh, he looks very cool. Mister sparky boom boom,,, Tetsuo is a very close second though, and I think it's fun how much him as a woman resembles his what-if daughter, Kiara.

Thinking about actual character things now:

I think that, in a gender swap AU, Tetsuo would possibly be among those changed most by being the opposite gender.

She suffers from the difficult trial that is being a very well endowed, mean faced, attractive woman in power-- who got that power by being chosen for it, instead of born into it. Combined with Haruka's own reputation of being a womanizer, Tetsuo's enemies definitely like to whisper about how she was only chosen as Hatake heir because she's probably sleeping with Haruka. It's probably a pretty wide spread rumor and something that makes her look like she's licked a lemon when she hears it. Disgusting. Get away from her.

(The fact that Haruka often manhandles her does nothing but add to the fire, but neither are the sort to change their own, now decades long friendly behavior for something as stupid as rumor.)

I think, growing up as a girl, she might deal with some of that good old demiromantic compulsory heterosexuality. It's not that her clan is against unorthodox relationships, it's just that she doesn't think to apply that knowledge to herself.

She is a girl, and her mother raised her on stories of great romances, the romance between her mother and father included. And so she grew up understanding that romance was a thing she should want as a woman, and it'll probably be with a man, and she'll probably just "know" when it's right

She doesn't mind the idea. She thinks she'd like a family one day. And that will require a man too, of course. She'd want a home like the one she was raised in, and a partner with a love as strong as her own parents.

Unfortunately for her, actual real romance when directed her way tends to make her break out in hives </3 She's very frustrated by it

I think Tetsuo ages 30+ would be the kind of woman who gets crazy baby fever. M!Tetsuo also experiences his own version of this but not exactly applied to himself, if that makes sense? And he's also pretty satisfied in his own 'I wanna be a dad and take care of/guide someone' instincts just with his students and Sakumo.

F!Tetsuo is handed a baby for the first time since she turned 30 and goes home to stare at a wall blankly while screaming "I need to get pregnant!!!!!" In the privacy of her own mind. She wants,, to make one of those things,,, Wouldn't Sakumo like a cousin? [ insert the same daydream about being a mother/father that he has in normal wolves canon here ]

Now all she has to do is fulfilling the impossible trial of finding a man for the job :/

Thinking about it, Haruka would also be a bit changed; Not in major ways, but I have to imagine that someone like That(tm) being born a man would impact something. Honestly, he might be more relaxed of a person? Haruka being a woman, especially in a setting like feudal waring states Naruto, has dealt with a lot of very specific shit in both in her youth and of course, in her elder years being known as a promiscuous wild-woman clan head.

I'm not saying that he'd have an easier life as a man per say, but he'd definitely have avoided a whole bunch of events little and small that, in the long term, definitely helped shape Haruka into who she is now.

So like, male Haruka maybe being a bit more relaxed/reckless. And I know ur asking "what the hell could Haruka get more relaxed?" but I'd say she's a pretty cautious woman on the inside. So like, less of that.

He was probably a bit of a jackass in his 20's. 1000% got kicked out of bars across several countries, often along with Daisuke and Maru. A few different times while fighting for Daisuke's "honor" while a mortified Daisuke threatens to hurt him if he even tries it-- but oops, too late sorry! Haruka's too drunk to hear you, he's going to go try and fists fight some random, stupid shinobi in the middle of this underground bar. Then end up blowing a giant hole in the roof, making it cave in and expose the very secret bar to city officials.)

Compared to the others, I think Sora would be pretty much exactly the same. She's never had to deal with the sort of charged sexism / outside forces Haruka or Tetsuo deal with, and she's the sort of person who's very much authentically herself no matter what life she's living.

Sora is here for fire, explosions, cool fūinjutsu and her friends, and that will never change 💥

Also, the sheer force of her personality and rough appearance tends to blind the type of sexist people who'd give her shit for being a woman. So does the fire. And her fist in their face.

Although she does have "small, one armed woman" points in the getting dangerously underestimated department. But also anyone who knows what's up should be able to do the basic 1 + 1 math that is her tapestry of scars and the "I'd burn down your house for fun" intensity in her eyes, and understand that she's a heavily scarred shinobi in her 20's - 30's. Which means they better buckle the fuck up and assume she's the worst kind of veteran: The kind that survives

Tsuki is Tsuki in every life. Also she's genderfluid so this is probably just her on a Wednesday. Although, I guess since it's gender swap au it would mean she was born as a girl. So even though she's genderfluid, she only really explores that after the spiral, which means she was raised as a girl and in the future went by primarily she/her in the village

I want to say that maybe being raised as a girl affected her in some ways, and it might have, but thinking about it, Tsuki was a very feminine boy who actively played with dresses and makeup.

One of his biggest role models was Tetsuo's mom, Mioki (who was his own late mother's very close friend), and a very big chunk of their the time they spent together was Mioki using him as her little dress up doll since Tetsuo didn't quite like it, and Tsuki loved it. They'd host tea ceremonies and probably played princess at least once, with Mioki's own lingering childhood princess complex (coping mechanism say what?)

I'm getting off topic: Point is, yeah actually I don't think anything would change tooo much?

Wait no nvm Tsuki has a period. Biologically female Tsuki with female hormones n shit would be evil. She is Heather Chandler meets Regina George meets some other mythical mean girl, idk. But she is an evil, evil little girl growing up. And she's smiling the whole way through and it's terrifying.

The spiral either somehow calms her down or makes her infinitely worse. Can't decided which is funnier, but I'm gonna go with worse because that's narratively more impactful.

8 year old Tsuki is going to have Sora pin Tetsuo down and forcibly cut her (very long) hair short, and run crying to the adults to spin her own story before Tetsuo could. Then regret it a few days later when she realizes she can no longer tug on her ponytail.

16 year old Tsuki would be the kind of girl who'd steal Tetsuo's boyfriend and make out with him in front of her (if Tetsuo had one, which she doesn't, which Tsuki considers very sad specifically because she wants the experience of stealing her boyfriend. Very normal of you Tsuki.)

Tsuki wants to see this girl emotionally destroyed for her own amusement, Tetsuo u better run girl.

Sora is also there going "woah, girls are pretty scary..." as he helps Tsuki bully Tetsuo. He's completely blind to the real cruelty of their bullying because, growing up in a blood hunter camp, this is pretty normal hazing...? Right...? He doesn't see what's wrong with it, it's not his fault Tetsuo is on the bottom of their generations social pyramid and Sora's new best friend Tsuki is at the top. That's just how the world works! They're being pretty friendly, if anything. They aren't even stealing her food or beating her or anything!

Konoha era spiraled Tsuki is going to break out the "I want to crawl into your rib cage and sleep forever pressed against the beating of your heart" lines when she has Tetsuo cornered in a dark alley. We are NOT normal in this one.

Anyways uhhhh afab Tsuki has a bigger cup size then amab Tsuki (who henges himself into what he assumes fits his body best), pass it on. She saw a painting of her mom once growing up and was abruptly relieved she didn't inherit more of her mother's body type because hooollly backpain, mamacita. That's gotta hurt.

Anyways I didn't draw her, but on the topic of back pain: I need everyone to share with me my visions of fem Daisuke. Which is to say a very, very tall, scarred, heavy smoker of a doctor. She's very well endowed, which combined with the fact she's constantly hunched over a desk or patient, means her back is legitimately fucked. She's pretty much permanently stuck slouching, and she's sometimes has nightmares of being permanently stuck hunched over while trapped on the battlefield

She uses a back brace and sometimes even chakra to strengthen her bones, and when she stands up straight her spine makes a horrific cracking noise, all the way up her back.

She's constantly bitching to Tsuki about how she's lucky she didn't take after her mom more. Tsuki wishes she'd stop, she's doesn't want to hear about her dead mom's tits.

Although I guess Kono would be a guy in this, right? But also eh it's funnier, so she gets to defy the gender swap.

BUT YEAH GENDER SWAP AUS!! Love to see them, love to think about them even more. Gender impacts a lot of things, yk? So I think it's very fun to think of what that'd really mean, big picture. And honestly the character changes here are pretty fun to me, I think Tetsuo's changes are the one that interests me most, both in design and narratively

I kind of wanted to draw more, so maybe I'll come back to it later. It could be cool to do fem Daisuke and Maru,, Haruka constantly jokingly refers to them as his concubines. It does nothing but feed rumors, and she thinks it's hilarious. I am suddenly picturing him rigging the various bets around Konoha about which of the Hatake women he's sleeping with (none) by being extra touchy feely with them in public.

He gives Daisuke a big old kiss on the forehead and hair ruffle in the middle of the Hokage tower, and saunters off happily thinking about the money he's about to make as Daisuke behind him goes ???????

He Tetsuo brings to the market and goes grocery shopping with her while talking loudly about their shared dinner plans, and spends some of the coins he's already made off betting to get her a new hair pin he then puts in her hair himself.

He goes with Maru to one of the public parks for a little picnic by the river. (Maru is definitely on to her but also thinks its hilarious to influence the betting pools like this)
