harshwhimsical
Tumblr will not let me reblog the post but I have no intentions of responding to you in a "mature" way when your entire response is nothing but respectability politics and tone-policing. As a neurodivergent person, I am telling you that what you are saying is harmful policing of the way people experience triggers and that triggers do not always cause "panicked reactions," which i know as someone with bpd- where triggers are much more complicated. but rather than listen to that, you choose to speak over me and view this as a "debate," even while ignoring my point (ie making fun of triggers like "im not going to tag pancakes" is so incredibly mean and perpetuates wrong perceptions of how triggers work. thats literally making fun of mentally ill people). your entire post is phrased to belittle uncommon triggers and those who you don't consider "extreme" enough as if you are somehow the arbitrator of what is enough to respect mentally ill people and their wishes. Thats my point- you are not the arbitrator, you're not above us, drawing an arbitrary line of who you will respect enough to have empathy for is respectability politics.
but i probably shouldve known that when you espoused your view that tagging triggers, which is expecting people to have empathy for others, is "expecting others to censor everything." I never said that my example was a trigger- but itls still something im going to ask people to tag because it causes me something that is a lot more than "uncomfortable," as I explained, and i don't appreciate your attempt to trivialize that. You call me immature but your entire response is subtly patronizing, and in fact your whole spiel on the way you deal with things that spike your anxiety is clearly meant to show that you are "better" than people (read: me) who ask people to tag things. You want maturity? Give up the respectability politics, listen, and stop tone-policing.
