Goddess by Grumby featuring Häri Mint
Grumby, a Brooklyn based production duo, has been around for a few years now. Hailing from Texas they have been sitting right below the radar with their smooth R&B based electronica, basically future soul. And I've been diving into their back catalog and digging their sound. But it's in their recent collaboration with Häri Mint that Grumby really stands out.
Mint was a subway busker plying his trade when he met the two producers. The result was Refuse, a great song. But Goddess exceeds it in every way. The simultaneously spare yet lush production highlights Mint's gorgeous voice and impressive vocals. Mint dances around the melody easily gliding between a rich baritone and strong falsetto as he sings the praises of a goddess. I've listened more than 30 times now, and each time the song still feels fresh. I can't get enough. Mint is now working on his own album, and I bet it's going to be great. But I hope this is not the end of his collaboration with Grumby because this grouping is truly magical.
