Ms. Park yelled through the classroom. Students listened—barely—and sat back at their respective seats.

The teacher's gaze swept across the room and sighed as it locked on one silhouette.

"Sleeping in on your first day?"

The student didn't move, face first on the desk, resting shamelessly on their arms. Ms. Park sighed.

"Class president, wake them up."

Nam-ra looked towards you, nudging your shoulder until you woke up with a flinch, groaning through half-lidded eyes.

"What—?"

"It's so kind of you to join us Yoon." Ms. Park smirked sarcastically. "Try to stay awake through the lesson mh? Wouldn't want you to get detention your first time here."

It took you a second to answer, a lazy smirk on your lips.

"No problem ma'am."

Ms. Park sighed once again and looked away from you as the lesson started. Some—or most—students had turned to look at you, like they'd just now noticed the new face among them. You ignored them and stretched before resting your chin on your palm, turning to your desk mate—Nam-ra.

"Hi." You smiled. "So, class president uh?

The girl gave you a look, as if wondering why were you even talking to her, before slowly nodding and going back to studying—her expression not changing once.

You grinned and gave a small nod.

"Fair enough."

You yawned quietly and rubbed your eyes before resting back on your desk.

"Wake me up for lunch yeah?"

You didn't wait for an answer before closing your eyes and drifting back to sleep.

The bell had never been enough to wake you up. This time was no different—yet you opened your eyes as someone kept shoving lightly your shoulder.

You groaned and looked up, an eye closed and the other barely open. Standing besides your desk, towering over you, was that same girl.

"It's lunch."

Her voice was flat and low, lacking any warmth yet not dismissive nor mean either.

"You actually woke me." You grinned, stretching and slowly getting up. "Didn't expect that."

The girl didn't answer, watching you silently before turning around to leave, earphone in her ears. You watched her for a moment, still grinning. A student approached before you could add anything.

"Hey, you're new right?"

You turned to look at the guy smiling at you.

"My name's Woo-soek. Don't mind Prez, she thinks she's just better than anyone."

He sneered, like he said something funny. You looked at him, then back at the closed door Nam-ra had exited through.

"Well, I think so too. She's just so cool, isn't she?"

Woo-soek's eyes widened as you smiled brightly at him and left without another word. He was joined by his friends as he looked at you, still dumbfounded.

"What the fuck?"

Once in the cafeteria, it wasn't long for you to find Nam-ra. She sat alone—if you except her notebooks—, and ate silently with her earphones still on.

Smiling, ignoring the evident stares that came with being a new transfer in high school, you walked chin high to her and sat besides, beaming.

"Hey there." You smiled. "On a date with your books?"

She looked up at you, her eyes reflecting a surprise her face hid.

"What do you want?"

She asked, her voice calm and somewhat gentle as she took an earphone out. You shrugged.

"Oh you know. Just passing by, admiring people's beauty. You're pretty cool you know that?"

This time, the girl couldn't hide the surprise that etched her features. And somehow, the way she seemed genuinely confused—watching you like you were a new species she tried to figure out—, it stung a little.

"What do you mean?" She asked, still serious despite the hint of warmth you swore you saw in her eyes.

"You're class president." You replied, grinning. "Top of the school I bet. That's cool."

Nam-ra kept quiet, observing, before looking back at her lunch tray—seeming genuinely moved by your words.

"I guess." She muttered.

"It is." You retorted.

When she looked at you again, you were stuffing rice into your mouth and spoke up with your mouth still half-full.

"You're like the nerd characters in dramas." You blurted out. "Everyone bullies or dislikes them but they're actually the best. Well, most of the time."

You chuckled before turning serious.

"You're not gonna stab me with a pen are you?"

She frowned.

"What?"

"What?"

There were a silence where you both looked at each other, confused.

"You don't know Weak Hero Class?" You asked, frowning. "Si-eun? Pen stabbing master? Su-ho's boyfriend?"

Nam-ra slowly shook her head no and you gasped like she'd actually stab you.

"Aish, we'll have to watch it together—can't let you stay uncultured like that."

She blinked.

"Together?"

You froze, chopsticks in the air and mouth open as you were about to take a bite. You turned to her—meeting her confused eyes yet much warmer than the first time you'd crossed them.

"Yeah." You smiled. "I mean, if you want to of course."

There was a small silence between you two as you kept eating and Nam-ra watched you quietly.

"Yes."

She spoke softly, making you turn to her.

"I want to."

AN: This is the first part of either a small series or a bigger fic if im inspired :) felt bored and wrote this but kinda like it tbh and now i have too many ideas 😔 tell me what you think! I'll write the next parts and post them as soon as I can, it might be long though. The first chapters will most likely be platonic with all characters and I'm still thinking if I should make this a romantic x reader by the end but idk :/ tell me your thoughts in comments!
