The Garden
Top 10 upcoming games
Hey,
after a year It’s time to update my list. Looking at it, half of the list stays the same. The other one are mostly newly announced projects. I don’t follow games news rigidly of lately, so it’s possible that there are games in the making, which I would be even more hyped for if only I knew about them.
10. Imperator: Rome
This is the boring one. I’m always super excited when there’s a big paradox release ahead. This one has a theme I’m interested in as I love everything per-gunpowder. On the other hand I’m not sure I’ll be in mood to play this anytime soon. And if it gets too many dlcs meanwhile, It’ll become even more difficult to pick up.
9. Untitled Goose Game
This was here last time and there’s no reason for it to drop off the list. With more footage out I find it even more hilarious. The pitch is perfect and the presentation lovely. I love it being mean and about a normal topic, birds are rude all the time.
8. Happup
More like hypeup. With more and more sweet bits released, there’s no way I could even think about dropping this. I have no idea if it ever gets release, but if it does, it will be big! Just take a look at this gif UwU.
7. Wargroove
My love for Into The Breach definitely helped this one on the list. I’m excited to play more streamlined strategy games and this one looks like legendary Advance Wars, which I plan on playing really soon. Chucklefish keeps on adding content and that makes me go wild drooling.
6. Samurai Gunn
Beau Blyth is one of the coolest devs and her trailer for Samurai Gunn is one of my favourite trailers of all times. It’s simple taking inspiration from old Kurosawa flicks and having some excellent hip-hop soundtrack. Two takes the coolness to another level with a complimentary comic and story line. I’m really glad for this as there never was reason for me to actually purchase the original game as it is local multiplayer only.
5. Weird And Unfortunate Things Are Happening
It always makes me feel happy to hear about progress on this one. This game’s pure joy with some interesting themes mixed in. The demo was an example in its use of RPG Maker. Battles were fun and dialogues left an emotional impact on me. Really hyped to play the whole thing.
4. Anodyne 2: Return To Dust
Anodyne is getting some major appreciation of late. Waypoint posted this video on the sweet indie Zelda. There’s a lot to expect from the follow-up and the short teaser makes it look like it might all ring true. The original game was very meta and I expect nothing less from Anodyne 2. I hope it will venture to even darker places!
3. Knights and Bikes
This dropped a little for a good reason. It’s taking too long. I still love everything about it I loved year ago, tho. Riding a bike being an exciting in-game activity and the game being very playful, while talking about serious topics. It’s a little bit like the original Anodyne.
2. Afterparty
Oxenfree was one of a kind experience and I’m stoked to see more from the devs. They’re not exactly two guys in a garage. They’re experienced creators and Afterparty seems to be focused on the same audience as the previous game with teenage protagonists and the same dialogue system. The new is heavy focus on fantastic elements as the duo of protagonists has to drink their way out of Hell.
1. Kentucky Route Zero: Act V
It’s one of my favourite games and I would like to know the end. It’s logical I’m hyped for it. I might even start playing from the start to experience the whole thing at once. I just love KRZ so much.
