SCIENTOLOGY, SOUTHPARK, PORN AND MIDGETS

This is definitely a weekend post - but also a grand traverse through law suits, comedy, religion and bad music that proves how ludicrous our society can be.

If you have some monotonous chores to complete, then do yourselves a favour and complete this one hour journey... you will then mow or clean or hang out the washing while singing along to every moment and quietly giggling. Click on the links to take the tour.

It begins with South Park and scientology and then leads onto R.Kelly and what he terms a "hip hopera", saying, "It's now too long to be called a song..."I don't know how to explain how I wrote it. It just keeps rhyming and rhyming." 

First of all you need to watch the South park episode called ‘In the Closet.’ I am sure you can download it from all sorts of places but here is an official link where you pay and thus the makers get paid...tv.com  The next thing you need to watch are the first few episodes from the R. Kelly ‘hip opera’ so as to understand the reality of his place in this episode. He is not taking the piss... he has even created a dvd where you can watch all 33 episodes. The first 3 are enough to give you an idea of the madness but it is worth watching episode 11 as that is where there is a midget with a big cock that farts in a room full of black men with guns! Ok, so now you know what I mean when I say you can sing your way through the monotony of any chore.

2 days before leaving and I have unlocked my phone, found my passport, booked 2 nights in suggested accommodation so as to get my bearings - Stonehouse Bed and Breakfast.... and then came the drama!

The Philippines is being eaten alive by the biggest super typhoon in the history of the world.

Look what I found by Hannah Cutts at Edwina Corlette Gallery was a success. Thus begins the hunt and gather mission to find new things for the next show

LOOK WHAT I FOUND#2 opens on February 14th.

I decided to head to Manila, in the Philippines. I booked flights and then began searching online to try and create a plan of attack.

Surprisingly, for such a big city, there was little information that wasn't stock standard, generic or business orientated. After Googling like a loony, I came across a kickstarter program, based in the Philippines, called ARTIST CONNECT and there I stumbled across the call to arms to help create a book showcasing the 'religious iconography of the jeepney.'

Right up my alley.

I helped get the publication over the line, as a corporate sponsor, and in return asked that the designers help me with my hunt and gathering in Manila. They were not only happy to help but also invited me to come and stay in their studio. 'Adopted' is the term they used.

Marcus and Bru run a studio called Electro Lychee and their design practice looks bloody fantastic.
