The Present - Präsens
Expresses an action that is regularly carried out.
Ich arbeite. - I work.
Expresses a continuous action which would require the continuous form in English.
Ich arbeite im Moment. - I’m working at the moment.
Adding expressions like “gerade,” “Augenblick,” and “zur Zeit” can give a continuous meaning when paired with the present tense.
Expresses the future when there’s a future expression added to the verb
Ich arbeite morgen. - I’m going to work tomorrow.
In einer Woche arbeite ich. - In one week I’ll be working.
To express an action that started in the past but is still going on, often indicated by “schon” or “seit”
Ich arbeite seit gestern. - I’ve been working since yesterday.
