Footsteps thudded against gravel hastily, a shadow of a figure zipping through empty back alleys with a blur of a shape on its heel. A flash of silver and the predator stumbled, unintentionally granting the fleeing figure leeway to slip onto bigger roads and camouflage into the crowd.Ā A quiet hiss escaped between clenched teeth as the blur materialized in the form of a lithe figure. Without so much as glancing at the wound, the male pulled his sleeve down over his arm and darted out into the street, stormy grey eyes locking on his target, several feet up ahead. He unceremoniously pushed through the crowd of pedestrians, speeding up when the victim broke out into a run.
Skidding around a corner, Jiwon let out a stream of curses when he was met with a solid force, sending whatever he had run into toppling to the ground. Focusing on his first priority, a low growl ripped from his throat when he no longer sensed his chargeās presence anymore. That injury had affected him more than heād originally thought, it seemed. With a sigh, he turned his attention to the obstacle (a girl, upon closer inspection) heād nearly run over. āI apologize,ā he spoke quietly, offering a hand to help her up.
Blood was a common place odor in the city. Some areas seemed permanently stained with lingering fragments of iron. But the scent wafting across her nose was human. And very very fresh. Instantly her predatory side kicked into gear. Though it was not the hunting instincts that had been activated. Rather it had triggered her need to protect.
Eyes discreetly flickered from spot to spot. Trying to find the injured party. Her heckles raised as another scent joined. A dark fragrance that sent a chill down her spine. It was only with the blessing of years of practice that she refrained from growling. Especially as the new smell only grew close. But the crowd was so thick she couldn't pick the creature out. Clenched teeth stifled the hiss as she was knocked to the ground. Palms scrapping against the sidewalk as she caught herself. Minor wounds that healed almost as soon as they occurred. Bright red began to seep into calm turquoise irises. Like blood spilling into the sea. The suppressed growl finally made an appearance at the offered hand. It wasn't the male's fault. There was just an almost instinctual disdain for the scent he carried. Amplified by the current emotional duress she was under.
Picking herself up unaided, she forced herself to be calm. It was neither the time nor place to start a brawl. "Don't mention it. Though I have to admit I'm happy your prey escaped."
