#handler verse

She normally spends her lunches with Souji and Yosuke--pretending like things are casual. Pretending like things were normal. Things weren’t normal. They’d never be normal again. 

Today she had to get away from that. She had to think. Was her life really worth all of this? She really didn’t know anymore...to think that such a being existed inside someone who seemed completely normal most of the time...she was still getting used to that idea, even though she had seen proof.

“I am quite capable of completing my own homework, Senpai.” Naoto says, not looking at “Yosuke”. She’s not one to cheat, even if she has many other responsibilities outside of school. Her work with the police department, her job as a handler for Subject 000, it was all quite overwhelming. Simple things like homework brought her calm, even just for a while, as all of this seemed so surreal.

Naoto had been trained for this day. The day that the Sleeper would no longer be able to be contained through medical intervention. She never thought that it would come so soon, nor that Yosuke of all people would be the one to bring it about. He was the robot here, not her. Certainly he should have known better than to tell Yu about his true nature. But...lately, Yosuke had been behaving more and more human like. It was almost as if he actually had feelings for Yu, despite what the silver haired boy’s frail body was holding inside.

But now is not the time to judge, nor scold, nor leave Yosuke to his own devices. No, she has to be there for him as his coworker and friend. They’ll figure something out, surely.
