Anyway.

I think part of why the narrative the Hanar sells works so well is they’ve convinced the galaxy, including the Drell specifically, that the Drell cannot be trusted to take care of themselves safely. That they are not unlike the Krogan in that, when unchecked, they’ll drain a planet dry.

Thane tells us it was overpopulation.

The CODEX says over-industrialization.

While not mutually exclusive? It’s the slight difference in language used and specifically where it is used. We have a Drell who was raised on Kahje and would have been educated by the Hanar telling us it was the Drell and their own fault that led to their so-called destruction due to an inability to regulate themselves and maintain a safe and healthy population.

Official codex entries which would feasibly be accessible galaxy-wide tells us it’s over industrialization. Because well—everyone can understand that! Right? Look at this silly little primitive race and their inability to prevent themselves from destroying their own world!

Which doesn’t that paint such an interesting pre-exodus picture? The Drell being a race so insistently focused on expansion and development?

And too *blind* to mitigate the damage done to their own environment? I mean. Sure. Okay. Humanity also sucks at this—but the Drell have a little bit of variation here that I think would lend to a very slow staggering death of a planet. But I digress.
