I won't attempt to write much about Freud partly because i feel his views on hysteria and the ‘mentality of women’ weren't all that great, and partly because I'm a little sceptical about the grey areas in his theories. I can however describe the dimly lit rooms of the lower floor that were shuttered up, preserving the carefully selected treasures Freud brought with him once exiled from Nazi Germany in 1939. Each visitor shuffled around the house in a hushed sort of respect for the decadent (if not slightly shabby with the passage of time) way in which people of the past lived.
