"I have to finish my work," Alexander sighed, not even sparing [Y/N] a glance. He kept his eyes on what he was writing, the quill moving non-stop.
"Alexander, please," [Y/N] placed her hands on his shoulders, rubbing them gently. "Take a break. Watch this movie with me."
"[Y/N], I'd love to, but I need to get this plan through congress. I could lose my job if I don't."
"It won't hurt if you take one day off. Alex, please. If not for me, then do it for yourself." [Y/N] pleaded, but Alexander could not be swayed.
"[Y/N], my love, just enjoy the movie on your own." Alexander sighed, placing his left hand on top of the one she was using to rub his right shoulder.
"I'll make it up to you soon, I promise." He smiled reassuringly, lifting [Y/N]'s hand up to place a loving kiss on the back of her palm.

[Y/N]'s POV
I came to watch the movie on my own. I wished Alexander could've come along, but the man was too stubborn for his own good.
I don't remember the last time he and I had properly spent time together. He's been working relentlessly, and I, who was supposed to be his wife, barely got any of his time.
It's not that I don't appreciate his efforts in his work. I just wish that he could've granted me even the littlest amount of his time. That would've been enough.
I sat down in one of the middle row seats. They turned down the lights and turned the projector on. And just as the news of the world started to begin, my heart dropped.
I saw my darling, Alexander, and my best friend, Eliza Schuyler, walk in.
Of course, I could've just mistakened strangers that looked like them. But as they neared where I sat, it became clear.
No matter how dim the lights were, it was surely my Alexander holding hands with Eliza.
I slightly sunk in my seat, not making even the smallest of sounds. They hadn't noticed, and sat right down infront of me. I tried to pay no mind, but seeing them together made my stomach churn.
When he kissed her lips, I almost died. I held back a sob, my heart plummeted in my chest. He kissed her.
My husband just kissed my best friend.
And so, in the middle of the colored cartoon, I started to cry.

The moment the cartoon ended, I got up and exited the theatre, left unnoticed by both Alexander and Eliza. They were too immersed with each other to even notice my presence behind them during the movie. It was a pain having to go through nearly two hours seeing my husband cheat on me with my best friend.
My heart broke all over again at the sight of them exiting the theatre, laughing together as Alexander gently kissed her hand like he did with mine just before I left.
As I quickly made my way out the building, I crossed paths with Angelica, who quickly noticed my tear-stained face.
"What's wrong?" Angelica asked me with the caring tone I've always heard from her. Oh, Angelica...
How was I supposed to tell her that my husband kissed my best friend? Her sister?
I forced out a laugh, earning a concerned look from her. And so to keep from telling her a lie, I simply said:
"Sad movies make me cry."
