Does Leo ever go out and do hero stuff with baby Leo and the bros? Or does he kinda chill at home? Does he have a job? Is he retired since he did so much war and violence? I’m so curious as to what he does (besides being wonderful)!
OKOK SO THIS IS GONNA BE A LONG ONE CAUSE THE AWNSER IS. COMPLICATED.
So. When Lee first is cleared off of bedrest he does go on patrol and stuff with the kids buttttttt…
Bro figures out really quickly that doesn’t really work out. He’s been fighting a war since he was sixteen and honestly? Bro is BURNT OUT. Patrol isn’t even fun anymore becuase every fight he’s been in for the last twenty years has been life or death. So going out to do hero work means throwing himself back into that hypervigilant, overly cautious mindset. It’s exaughsting honestly. Plus, this has the unfortunate side effect of him occasionally going abit too hard on a bad guy, which isn’t safe for ANYONE.
So yeah. He makes it like two weeks before deciding that this is not gonna work outside of super duper important missions or like. Pizza week.
So what’s a newly fully retired turtle like him to do? Well, first he tries out just trying to take it easy. Watch shows with his dad, hang out with the kids, get back into comics that kind of stuff. He also starts meditating again in an attempt to reconnect with his ninpo (Something he has been unable to do up until this point. Connection fully severed when Mikey died)
….Yeah also not working. I can’t see Lee as particularly liking being a homebody. This is also right in the middle of some of the worst of his self image issues and survivors guilt so he feels like a massive has-been taking it easy like this. Honestly it’s good for his physical health but he’s suffering mentally for it’s also not a good fit. And he tries doing stuff like getting into hobbies outside of magic tricks and comic collecting but…
Nothing really sticks. He can’t sit still through half the stuff his dad suggests and he’s still adjusting to not using a prosthetic anymore so certain things are just not feasible right now. And he just. Doesn’t like being cooped up in the lair like this with nothing to really do. Again he’s been fighting since he was sixteen and actively leading a rebellion since he was in his twenties. He doesn’t really know how to just ‘live’ anymore.
BUT EVENTUALLY. He figures it out! He gets a part time job as Run of the Mill’s first pizza delivery guy!!!
He’s still connected to his mystic so his portals, while abit weaker, still work just fine. It gets him out of the house and talking to people. He even starts to put some money aside to maybe get his own place eventually. While I think it’d be good for him to be fully retired, he’s just not mentally there yet. Right now bro NEEDS something that’s a) regular and scheduled enough to form a routine around it, b) lets him feel abit more independent and like he’s not solely relying on his family, and c) makes him feel NEEDED. So yeah. Part-time job was just the way to go.
Oh also he still trains still trains Casey. They’re both too stubborn to admit these days it’s more of a bonding thing than a necessity though
