I thought tonight was going be a normal night a Molly’s with Adam, Hailey, Kim, and Kevin, Voight never comes out to Molly’s and Platt’s only here because of Mouch. I never expected what happened to happen, or the person that resolved the problem to do what they did. You see I was at the counter getting another round of drinks because, well, I don’t know, Anyway I was at the counter getting another round of drinks when this drunk guy sauntered up to me.

“What’s a pretty thing like you doin’ here all alone?” The guy asks

I look at him, roll my eyes and wait on Herman to get me the drinks. I realize that I really shouldn’t have rolled my eyes at the guy when he has me pinned up against the counter. 

“Don’t you ignore me bitch.” The guy spits

“Get the fuck off of me.” I say, trying to push the guy away

“No way, your to pretty to let go.” The guy says while try to get to my neck

I shove him on him again and he slaps my face, finally getting the attention of all my friends. The guy grabs my face and forces his lips onto mine. At this point, I’m on the brink of tears, this guys three times bigger than I am and a whole lot stronger. I let out a yelp when a hand goes down my pants. That’s when the guy gets ripped of of me. My legs feel like jelly and if it weren’t for Adam having an arm around my shoulders, I probably would’ve fallen.

“GET AWAY FROM HIM, HE’S MINE!” The guy screams at Adam

“No, he was clearly trying to get away from you and he’s mine otherwise I wouldn’t do this.” Adam says calmly

Do what, what’s Adam gonna do? Adam turns me around and grabs my waist, not in the way the drunk guy did. I look up at him and a tear runs down my face, Adam drops his lips to mine, no forceful, not meanly, but with care, and gentleness. I find myself kissing Adam back because damn it feels good, When we pull away from each other I let my head fall to Adam’s shoulder. 

“Take him home Adam, make sure he’s okay.” Mouch tells Adam

I let myself get guided out of Molly’s and to Adam’s truck.

“You’re stayin’ at my house tonight.” Adam states simply

“Why’d you kiss me?” I ask

“Because I care about you, I have for few years and never acted on it.” Adam replies

I make a noise and lean my head against the window and watch Chicago zip by through the window. Soon enough we’re at Adam’s house and he’s unlocking the front door. Once we’re inside, I kiss Adam again, before I know it, I’m getting carried to the bedroom.

“Are you sure you want this after what just happened?” Adam asks me

“I want nothing more right now.” I say

We do our thing and a few hours later we’re underneath the covers and m heads laying over Adam’s heart and out fingers are linked together.

“Baby be mine?” Adam asks

Sometimes, by the time he woke, the nightmares were already gone. Sometimes, in the pale morning light slipping in through the blinds, they were nothing more than an aftertaste, bitter ashes at the back of his throat. Sometimes he could swallow hard against them and chase them away before the day had even begun. He’d remember the feeling of them—the panic, the rising terror in his heart—but not the images. He could pull himself out of bed, stand in the shower beneath the nearly scalding water and let the heat of it ease the tension from his shoulders completely. Sometimes he woke up and it was time for work. He could jerk his body into motion, let muscle memory and simple morning routine pull him through.
