this movie hurt me, but it also moved me to create and post art. if you haven’t seen it, i recommend.
Mientras la noche caía (The Half Of It) (on Wattpad) https://my.w.tt/F9IxJ9NNm8 He visto Si Supieras (Half of it) en Netflix y he decidido hacer mi propia versión de lo que pasaría con Ellie y Aster unos cuantos años después cuando ambas tienen 24. ----- Disclaimer: Los personajes que aparecen aquí le pertenecen a la genial mente de Alice Wu.
The Half of It (2020) Personal opinion
I just watched this movie and I had to write about it. I'm not a big fan of Netflix movies, so I'll base on the few that I have seen. Company tried to risk once again presenting a plot of teenage romance, and I mentioned "risk" because it was kind of different, if I can say it (of course, regardless of how trite it's that the main character is an antisocial young who hides from the world) I don't know you but I think the movie connects in some way how you've ever felt (I think a few of you'll understand) when the main character is expresing about the receiver of the letters she writes. When you're secretly in love with someone and you dedicate your thoughts, words that you can never say face to face because you're scared of your feelings, trying to meet with a social standard. A similar situation had already been seen in a serie that Netflix released a few years ago (Everything Sucks) and I think it's one of my favorite types. Idk. Also, it's funny that Yakult is mentioned like an exotic drink. I guess in the US it's not common to find it in the supermarket stores like in Mexico.
Ellie on the train
I love the final scene of Ellie in the train after sob-giggling at Paul chasing the train where she looked at the other passengers....and nothing. They did not partake in this story of a fellow passenger or be bothered to know about it. They just continue doing what people do when they travel. Squahamish is just another small town on the way to their destination. They are not privy to the fact that in this town three teens have learned important lessons about finding their way about in love and dreams and the world. No cringey sympathetic smile or clap from other passengers except for the one lady who looked outside with a smile. That is just so realistic about leaving your hometown, the uncertainty, the unknown that Ellie is heading into.
