Safeguard | Eliwood & Nils
@half-draconic-bard from Protective Sentence Starters.
The night was silent safe for the sound of the crickets singing their song, but the scene before him was far from tranquil. An unarmed boy was surrounded by assailants and they cackled under their breath, carrying a glint within their eyes that could only be described as malicious. There were various reports that remnants of the Black Fang were attempting to reform as a result of the greed of those who remained. They were thieves will little skill but were well-armed, pillaging as necessary to satisfy their desires for gold. Though Eliwood had increased the presence of the guards around the neighboring communities to protect his people, travelers were still vulnerable to attack in the night.
It was by a miracle, perhaps Elmine’s will, that he had been awake. Though it had been over a year since their last encounter, Eliwood recognized Nils’ familiar form without even a tinge of doubt. Reacting swiftly, Eliwood drew his rapier, fearful that his friend had already been injured. With incredible speed, Eliwood reached Nils, stabbing the thief that had nearly marred him. He took a step back, positioning himself between Nils and the danger before them. He held his rapier, pointing it towards his enemy with a stern expression.
“You will not harm a single hair on his head,” He stated, his voice quiet but commanding, “off with you, fiends, or you will leave me no choice but to attack.” He steadied his breathing, his eyes quickly darting to Nils before returning to the enemy. Praise Elmine! He’s unscathed.
“Stay close, friend. I will protect you.”
