#OTD 6/20/1972 President Nixon and his chief of staff H.R. "Bob" Haldeman met in the President's Executive Office Building office to discuss the Watergate burglary. The recording of their talk would come to be missing the famous “18 1/2 minute gap.” In 1974, the President's secretary, Rose Mary Woods, claimed she might have accidentally erased portions of the June 20th tape while transcribing the recording. #OTD 5/4/1970 Four students were shot and killed by National Guardsmen at Kent State University in Ohio. As details of the tragic events that day came in, White House Chief of Staff H. R. The "seduction of Frank Sinatra." #OTD 10/25/1971 Special Counsel to the President Nixon Charles Colson sent this memo to Chief of Staff H. R. Haldeman. In it, Colson outlines a plan to create a personal relationship between the President and Mr. Sinatra who, concerned over the policies of George McGovern, was in the process of switching his allegiance to the Republican Party.
