Gyro knows that he's not good with expressing his emotions like he should. He's never really had the chance to accurately express himself when he was younger and it had spilled over into his adult life. He's also never gotten the proper amount of bonding physical intimacy so hugs and having Espe lean on him and fall asleep makes him a little nervous. Not in a bad way, but in a "oh my god what am I supposed to do why am I feeling like this why is my heart racing what the fuck -" kind of way!
Espe isn't complicated at all: she wears her heart on her sleeves. However, she's gotten really good at covering a lot of her feelings if she believes they may be inappropriate - and she grew up thinking that a lot of her feelings needed to be covered up so she would be perceived as a proper lady. Gyro challenges that by making her acknowledge her feelings, even if he may "just be teasing her" at the time.

When it comes to Gyro and Espe, the biggest fault and strong point is how they handle serious situations.
Gyro has a habit of joking before getting into a serious topic - it lightens the weight of a situation in his mind. He doesn't handle confrontation in the best way and it often leads to him blowing up if he has to deal with it right away. Remnants of growing up under his father most likely.
Espe likes to deal with issues directly and as soon as she can. She doesn't enjoy long drawn out discussions about issues that could have been solved with a few words, but she does have a habit of holding grudges and making herself more upset if she thinks too much about a situation. That's partially why she likes to deal with things when they come up instead of waiting for them to blow over.
It's a blessing and a curse for the both of them, especially when they do end up arguing. Sometimes they blow up at each other and stay apart for awhile, but they're always willing to see the other side's reasoning and talk things out. It's why they don't have many arguments and why they mesh so well together; they can see the opposite side of their respective coins.

Depends on the situation! At max, there is only one braincell shared between any two at one time :)
Strel and Bruno are nearly harmonious which is a great thing - until it isn't. They can interrogate, discern, and kick your ass in sync, but they're also the first ones to be clueless on things like, oh I don't know, their childhood friend that they've been searching for for years coming back into their lives and clearly showing that they're still in love with you but you're too hung up on your own stupid thoughts to let yourself be loved by them. You know, simple stuff!
Strel and Leone had that natural spark, but were too guarded about their own feelings for a time and didn't want to accept how good they worked together. It's not on the level of Bruno and Strel, but Strel and Leone are a force to be reckoned with when they get it together.
Miele takes the braincell away from Risotto. He needs a break from it, we all know this. He doesn't share everything with her, so they each have their individual braincells. A good emotional match, but...they've got their own share of issues.
Gyro and Espe are like a more chaotic Bruno and Strel. Is there a braincell between them? Yes! Schrodinger's Braincell! Gyro will do something that makes absolutely no sense and Espe hates it! Will she perform the task almost like she knew what was going on the whole time? Absolutely! Power couple.
