Litter Beach by Guy Colwell
Doll #1 (1989). Pencils and text by Guy Colwell, who did the very radical 1970s Inner City Romance book at Last Gasp that I posted a couple weeks back.
An incredible bin find today. Having left the medium years prior to focus on selling his paintings, Colwell explains his return to comics in the opening notes, and more specifically, why he decided to illustrate what would eventually become one of the more popular adult comics of the ‘80s and ‘90s.

In painter-cartoonist Guy Colwell’s new show at La Luz De Jesus Gallery, there’s a particular focus on complex relationships between humans and animals. “The Wayward Ape,” running April 5-28, tracks how our evolution has gone beyond nature’s intentions. See more on HiFructose.com.
