Richard Corben, one of his last stories done for "The Underground" press. Melton's Big Game. When I saw Sean Penn in One Battle After Another I thought they might have had this story in mind. Tight t shirt, veiney arms, white, close cropped hair. The last two scans show the dilapidated condition of the dust jacket. It's been opened a lot and gone through some moves. The last image is the "climax" of another story called The Beast of Wolvton.

A unique and striking piece rendered in an unusual way. It is thought that the female featured centrally in the lower section is a woman named Guntra that R. Crumb was enamored with while he worked at American Greetings, before he went to San Francisco.

Alas, a comic about a grey, a gnome and a shakespeare escaping jail - is now available on itch. I'll eventually be making a printed version at some point too, but wanted to stick it up at least somewhere to celebrate it winning the humour category at the cartoonist coop's minicomics awards. Enjoy!
