Gustine Recreation Center Hosts Hope Afloat Dragon Boat Team Meal

The Hope Afloat Dragon Boat Team recently hosted an Italian feast at Gustine Recreation Center to celebrate their upcoming trip to Italy. Yum!

Hope Afloat Dragon Boat Team members are survivors of breast cancer who help each other to reclaim healthy, joyful lives through the ancient sport of dragon boat racing. The non-profit accepts any and every breast cancer survivor regardless of her age, physical strength, or athletic ability.

Gustine Recreation Center Hosts Camp Philly Info Session

Gustine Recreation Center hosted a Camp Philly parent meeting in June. Camp Philly, a sleepaway camp in the Poconos presented by PPR in partnership with the YMCA, offers transformative, life-enhancing experiences for youth, adults, and families from diverse backgrounds. The event was well attended by parents looking to learn more.

Broad Street Run Bag Packing

Once again, Gustine Recreation Center played host for the Blue Cross Broad Street Run bag packing endeavor. Anne Marie Dunne is in charge of the giant operation, with help from many dedicated volunteers and staff. Goldenberg Peanut Chews, Herr's, and others made generous donations to fill the runners' bags. Slices Pizza came through, feeding all the volunteers delicious pizza after their hard work. In total, 40,000 bags were made to hand out to the runners after their 10 miles down Broad Street.
