I don't think anyone apart from the us - the audience - knew what Shyam was capable of. It is kidnapping and after that that the characters in the show start realizing the depth of their mistakes.

I think Khushi believed she was right in trying to preserve Anjali's marriage and Payal's marriage by hiding about Shyam. She gave him the benefit of doubt because it would avoid multiple complications.

Arnav and Anjali absolutely deserve an apology from the Guptas. But the thing is - if the Raizadas knew anything (barring Mami cause she's a rockstar to immediately go to Anjali no matter what) - wouldn't they have hidden it from Anjali as well? Arnav, too, couldn't find it in himself to tell his sister.

I remember writing something about the truth here and here, you might find those interesting.

Oh in the show Khushi realises later and has a full guilt session breakdown thinking she was selfish to focus on proving herself to Arnav rather than actually see what options she was dealt with. She hated that she was selfish in trying to get his belief.

Khushi also didn't realise the value of signatures to an extent until that point. Since Shyam was a lawyer and we can assume he helped the family in many places - we can give Khushi the benefit of doubt that she didn't realise Shyam was planning something sinister.
