I've read so many posts about how much people hate the Sheetal track (complete valid btw I feel the same).

I think you don't like looking into actors' lives but it's funny how so many those fans who hate it and write long comments on Insta about how disrespectful it was, go on to make romantic reels about "sarun" and how in another life they're soulmates, should be married etc.

If they understand how shitty it was, Arnav-Sheetal having a "moment", they should also understand how shitty those type of another-life-soulmate comments are to their actual spouses, but it seems like the understanding is limited...

On that note, it was a similar situation of Arnav-Khushi having "moments" while he was still with Lavanya. But the quality of the script in those situations was way different.

Thanks for choosing to share your feels here! Ah... there are some parts of fandom - and not just this show's but just of fandom culture in general - that go completely beyond me.

I understand why people build parasocial relationships.... but God at times the lines of awareness really blur. It's a delululand at times.

Coming to the Arnav-La-Khushi dynamic... Khushi was the other woman. Not in the obvious sense but she was the third person in Arnav and La's relationship.

It was, at that time for the medium and genre of stuff that it was, written very compellingly. The grey lines were left to be grey, the hurt was etched out where needed, and the emotions were really put in place.

I loved Arnav having the 'what am I even doing with Lavanya... and I probably have never done the right thing with her' - and it's not about their physical relationship, but rather what their commitments were to each other.

I loved the unease Khushi felt whenever La told about her and Arnav to Khushi - there was no moral sense of rightness in Khushi's developing feelings for Arnav. She's "not" more right. Khushi feels the mix of sting, and joy for La. And while we don't see much of the time period where La understood Arnav - but each of those scenes gave her a certain sense of dignity and respect.

And none of these wonderful complexities ever existed with the Arnav-Sheetal track.

I also have some questions to ask. In Arnav's room, before their first break-up, Arnav said he defied Di & Nani, kept lavanya in the house because he cares for her. But wasn't it untrue ? Anjali was never against his relationship. And he brought her home because Shyam suggested it. Also, it was to show Nani that he can live his life on his own terms. One more question. What was Arnav thinking when he hugged back Lavanya (he hadn't hugged her before) ?

Oh Anjali did not quite approve of Lavanya. She just didn't vocalize it because she loves Arnav so she's happy with his happiness.

If Lavanya is his happiness, then be it.

In fact Nani and Anjali are on the two other sides of Arnav-Lavanya. Nani wants them to breakup, Anjali wants them to get hitched (just because it's a more socially acceptable situation).

Akash is the only one who reacts perfectly normally about it.

"My cousin has a girlfriend. Cool. None of my business tbh. I'm kinda chill with her too."

Arnav on the other hand knows Nani is more blunt about what Anjali is sugarcoating.

He knows that Anjali makes peace with Lavanya as his girlfriend and Nani just hates the idea of a girl like Lavanya in Arnav's life (also Nani has no idea who would fit Arnav well tbh).

Again, even if Arnav wanted to defy Nani, he's choosing Lavanya for this because he is certain that he wants Lavanya.

He wouldn't bring a Lisa or any other random girlfriend. There is a certain sense of stability in his and Lavanya's relationship.

He has been over to her place quite a few times, which is what he insinuates as well that he'll leave home and move in with her - which is why Shyam quickly suggests the opposite.

So what Arnav's trying to tell Lavanya is that he does take this relationship seriously. Or he did. Because he wouldn't be bringing random women home to make a point.

So did Arnav do all of this to stubbornly prove a point? Yes

Would Arnav have done this with any girlfriend with his? No

Arnav is a very private person in general. He wouldn't be extending his house just about to anyone.

Also, with regards to your second question. He has obviously hugged Lavanya many times but that hug that Lavnaya gives him (I'm assuming post hospital scene) - puts him into the loop of that he should've been able to extend empathy.

Cause he's kinda been beating himself up for not being able to showcase empathy when Khushi desperately needed it.

Because that empathy, that care, wavers on very very dangerous waters of affection and... something more.

Something he quite isn't ready to feel.

Also the reason why Arnav and Khushi hesitate to be kind to each other is because any flicker of kindness quickly opens the doors that they've bolted shut for feelings for each other.

Wasn't it contradictory that he was asking explantion of the 10 minute he was wasting while saying she can waste his 10 min ? He doesn't even respect her feelings(calling that cake cutting waste of time). I think phati sari had said in her percap that Lavanya interrupted Arnav's work & he didn't mind. Maybe that's her opinion. But I don't think so. In my observation,she didn't interrupt his work.He was going to office finishing his meeting there.She just stole 10 min between that time to celebrate. I don't think that indicates he priortizes lavanya(That too over his work). If he had prioritize her over his work,they can celebrate any time. She didn't had to stole his time. But, anyway, What is your interpretation of that scene ?

To be very very honest, yes, my thinking of Arnav-Lavanya being friends really stems from their breakup time.

There was something deep between those two when they broke up - not just a "I'm sorry this happened,"

Both Arnav and Lavanya are reacting to the person they know, and who they have become. Lavanya reads a lot into Arnav - and it's not just because she's observant. Lavanya is a little bit more on the chill side, Arnav does not expect her to think so deeply about people because she usually does not.

It's what Lavanya thanks Khushi for - her friendship with Khushi brought the best out of Lavanya as a person.

And the way Arnav is kind to Lavanya - it just made me think that there could have been something genuine, something nice between them.

Yes, they're not best friends forever, but for an introvert like Arnav, Lavanya could have come around being to one of his closest people in life.

Because if we take Khushi and forever love out of picture, there are slight nuances of humor, or just liking what the other person brings in the picture. I don't take their interactions in Shantivan as a way to measure how their relationship had been because it's clear as day that things between them got progressively worse.

The 'ten minute' thing that Arnav says to Lavanya is very similar in nature to what he tells Anjali about giving 'free hospitality to doctors from abroad' for her treatment.

And by that I mean he's treating Lavanya pretty similarly to how he treats his family. A little sulky at their antics, but ultimately enjoys their company and their space in his life.

If Arnav truly did not have time - he wouldn't be there.

If anything, Arnav is amused that in between all meetings his girlfriend thinks one must celebrate a five month anniversary?

Which is why Lavanya grins because she knows if she asks for five minutes - she's going to get it.

Nothing in the world could compel Arnav to cut cake and celebrate a five month anniversary if he wasn't invested in making Lavanya happy. Which he is. Even if he is sulky about it because he's never been one to have a good temperament.

They must have had good conversations over late night office hours, trips to places for work, car rides - either one of them could've offered a ride home.

They both have similar views about relationships and probably got into a friends with benefits situation with each other.

They like each other enough, there's a slight teasing energy and probably the closest relationship Arnav had (before getting married to Khushi).

Tbh I think the shots say enough but I'm clarifying cause I don't compare La and Khushi and they're far more similar than different - Arnav has a type.

With La, Arnav is aware that his girlfriend is a very beautiful woman and that she appeals to what he finds attractive and today she's just extra gorgeous with that stunning white saree.

The fact La did it for him and his family - and looks damn pretty in doing so - has an impact on Arnav. He can't get his eyes off her - he only does when Anjali is visibly disturbed and Di is, of course, his first priority.

Now when it comes to Khushi, Arnav knows she's a young woman who has a pretty face and he's probably marked off any draw he felt towards her as an outlier or a result of him making wrong decisions or just weird circumstances.

Today is different.

Today he's kinda seeing Khushi on a clean slate. There's no work, nothing between them. The curiosity that could've been a draw, any forced proximity or seeing her in something that would appeal to him - all of that is done with.

And he's drawn to her. He's... hesitant and troubled by the fact that Khushi appeals to him.

There's something more that happens to him when he sees her. A little bit of the world stopping. And to be honest, he himself doesn't know what's quite going on. There isn't much active thinking going on here.

No one is comparing Khushi to Lavanya. Not even Arnav. But this is the first time when the show properly starts focusing on Arnav's infidelity (as he's in a committed relationship with La). And on Khushi wanting Arnav. It's a very slight shift but it's an important shift. There's a certain distress Khushi feels knowing he broke the fast, or is breaking La's. Some of the gazes Arnav now has on Khushi aren't accidental. I like to call this the strike to the match that burns on Diwali.

Khushi is still an unknown to Arnav. Lavanya is not. It's not Lavanya's fault that she doesn't stop his world, it's something even Arnav didn't anticipate.

I think IPKKND is kinda right on how irrational attraction is. Half of the time I have no idea who I'm attracted to and why but it's always magnetic.
