How to grow as a witch
I cant really tell you how baby stages work because I feel like I skipped them. I still remember starting out, jumping in face first and running against walls until they crumbled under my stubbornness.
My first spell when I decided ‘I am a witch now’ was a weather spell. It was autumn and I wanted it to rain but there was sun for a week so it was unlikely. I was all like “bitch just watch me” and, stubborn as I was, used all my energy on at least wind so rain could come sooner. Guess what, I wanted immediate results and created a 2 week storm by pouring too much energy in. After that I was more careful. I still tried out everything as soon as I could, in an order that would make me scream ‘The FUCK you think you doing’ at other witches. Spirit communication without wards but at least having like 1000000000 super weak shields that would’ve at least gotten the wind out of an attack. I still don’t cast circles unless for summoning things.
Despite all the errors that are now obvious to me I advanced. I never felt like I could, or should for that matter, teach people because my practice is weird, probably still unsafe and not where I would feel comfortable in teaching.
I do feel like I learned a lot in learning at my pace, in trying out a lot regardless of what others say and figuring out “oh well, *thats* why you do that” for myself. I basically jumped over the “JUST READ EVERYTHING” stage and went straight to “yo let’s try this.”. I still read a lot of what I can get my hands on, just more filtered than I see more baby witches do it. They read and read and read and never practice and practice is just as important as reading.
Don’t make silly mistakes like I did tho.
I feel like reading and practicing at the same time has gotten me to an mediocre level faster than just reading and it made me trust myself. I never felt like a baby witch, a beginner, yes, but not baby. I also felt like I improved way faster, to the point where, after just a year, I considered myself 'lower advanced’ because I was definitely above 'witchcraft 101’ posts (although I still use them for reference and inspiration), detailed 'how to do this spells’ and similar things. Although they did to some extent help me as I started I quickly just used them as a starting point to bullishit my way through more personalised spells. I even started to intuitively do my own spells, I constantly casually twitched and tweaked the energy around me to the point where I could wear neon vests in a store and got run over. Twice.
Don’t get me wrong, I am by no means an expert on magic, I haven’t learned nearly enough to be considered an expert but it definitely helped me improve. It still does. I still try random stuff, trial and error based. Bur learning, reading, improvising and trial and error is what makes you grow and what makes you grow fast. I advance every day I actively practice, I advance every time I read something new or take notes on something old, i advance with every new spell I write or try out.
Try stuff out, be less afraid, read, practice. Be proud. Be strong. Grow.
Tltr: if you want to advance in witchcraft quickly, try stuff out. Try out more, fix your errors but don’t forget to read.
Greetings The Guessworkwitch
