His left hand is badly damaged and he is always favouring his right hand while working at Sanders' or holding stuff. He also has chronic pain that causes his hand to stiffen and seize up. He cannot move his fingers or close his fist properly and sometimes he has to keep it in elevated position, probably to avoid pain or discomfort (like in the after sex scene with Alex at the airstream). It is subtle but it is there and it should not be ignored! I guess Michael's telekinesis has helped him a lot during these ten years of injury, especially in his job as a mechanical.

It's also such a shame that the writers decide that his hand was getting healed without his consent and never address the issue again.

RIP to Michael's hand and to another little piece of physical disability representation.
