Honestly piercings are such a perfect GT concept, a tiny dangling from a septum ring, clinging on while the giant exhales through their nose and it makes them sway. Or pulling themselves up with both arms just to peek into one nostril like itâs a cave (gross but like??). Or using an ear piercing like a climbing grip, tugging on it just enough to make the giant wince. I love when jewelry becomes part of the interaction, lip rings as ledges, nipple bars to tie a tiny to.. tongue piercings that become a slick little trap if the giant is teasing them with their mouth. And from the giantâs perspective? Even better. Like they knows their piercings are tempting. Maybe they catch the tiny staring at them or better, grabbing one for balance and decides to make a game of it. Letting them hang from ther nipple ring, looping a chain through their navel ring and telling them to hold on tight. Itâs so hot to me when piercings become handholds, restraints, or just something a tiny can use to interact with this massive body.

The first thing you wake to is the feeling of weight. A mountain of quilt and warm muscle flattening you into the mattress. At barely two feet tall, youâre a little taller than a housecat, and right now youâre about as helpless as one that has been pinned beneath a sofa cushion.
Itâs a pocket of stale warmth, your own little airless cave, stinking (comfortingly) of body wash and last nightâs tea. You push against the wall of frabic, but your arms arenât even long enough to dent the blanket fort sealing you in.
Above, something rumbles, a sleepy thunderclap tucked inside an ordinary human chest. You know that sound. Even when it is muffled through the mountain of blankets atop of you. You could pinpoint who that was even if it were storming outside
âBaaaabeâŠ?â The sound vibrates the mattress coils. Your ribs buzz like tuning forks.
You kick until one bare foot pokes free. Instantly a hand, each finger thicker than your wrist, sweeps across the bed. It drags over your calf, your hip, then presses flat to your sternum. The entire heel of their palm spans shoulder to shoulder on your tiny frame.
âThere you are.â Their morning voice is a gravel pit, half words, half purr. You squawk as they roll you, blanket and all~into the curve of their arms like a burrito.
âI canât breathe,â you squeak, voice muffled in cotton.
âDidnât ask you to.â They peel the duvet back from your face, and dawn light spills in. Your giant~ six-foot-something of bed-headed menace, squints at you. Eyes puffy, lips parted, hair everywhere. You get precisely one second to inhale.
Their lips pucker. Then they kiss.
Their mouth eclipses half your mouth and chin, some cheek too, hot and damp. You feel the plush weight of their upper lip slide from forehead, then chin, smearing drool. They hastily unravel you from the blankets so that they may continue their morning barrage of kisses. Youâre easily flung from the sheets, now held in both of their hands like a prized figurine.
Your left breathless as their large mouth attacks your small face. Chin, forehead, cheek, other cheek. Neck, cheek, nose. Oh my god. A single finger tugs down your shirt collar, a kiss lands on your collarbones; another kiss turns into a large tongue slurping across your entire abdomen, ribs tickling from their stubble.
Like some kind of animal.
âYuck! Stop!â You thrash. They just laugh, a rumble so low it tickles your bare soles. Then they fold you tighter against their chest. Your whole front molds to their left pec, the muscle as firm as a springy mattress topper, skin heated like a radiator. Every breath lifts you an inch; every exhale drops you like an elevator.
âToo much,â you gasp, scrambling, planting both palms on their sternum. Your arms barely reach nipple to nipple, which youâve noticed have hardened in the cool morning air beneath their shirt.
You push~ nothing. Trying to budge 98 kilos of âmorning monsterâ is like shoving a fridge.
They only growl, deep in their throat, a low, lazy diesel engine of possessiveness. When you try to slip down their torso, the arm beneath you hooks up, forearm thicker than your thigh, rolling you higher until your cheek smears into the soft hollow of their throat. Their pulse trundles under your lips, big and slow.
âStay,â they instruct, voice reverberating through bone. âPlease~ just cuddle me for a bit,â they groan âI need attentionâ they whine.
You squirm harder. You grumble about your back, your pride, your bruised dignity, but the truth is, you crave this too. The chaos. The closeness. Them.
They answer with nuzzles, broad nose dragging across your ear; lips suctioning at your cheek; a playful nip that makes your whole leg jolt. Schlurp. A hot stripe of tongue up the side of your neck leaves you slick.
âYouâre disgusting,â you hiss, wiping drool.
âIâm awake now,â they correct, grinning so wide their dimples look like twin sinkholes. âAnd youâre breakfast.â Another cavernous kiss mwaaaas your belly, the impact folding you like a taco. Your spine cracks pleasantly.
You swing a flat hand at their chin. Trying to shove them off. They barely budge, just huff a pleased noise and tuck you even tighter, palms overlapping across your back so that your ribs creak. Buried under their crossed forearms, you canât even wriggle; the thick weave of their sleep shirt rasps your cheek with every futile breath.
âNeedâŠair,â you manage.
âNeedâŠyou,â they echo, mock-serious, breath ghosting hot across your scalp.
Finally you go limp. Not because theyâve won.. well, partly~ but because the steady drum of their heart under your hands is hypnotic. BoomâŠboomâŠeach beat a gentle quake rocking your entire torso. Your own heart, hummingbird-fast, gradually syncs down.
âFine.. five more minutes. But then I need air. And a coffeeâ you mumble into their clavicle, voice half smothered, breathing heavily.
âOkay~â They grin against your hair, rubbing a cheek against the top of your head.
You smile in return. But, in petty protest, you chomp the tip of their chin, just a nip, enough to leave faint teeth dents. They gasp theatrically, jerking, and the blanket avalanche re-buries you both.
They then roll, pinning you beneath their chest until youâre basically begging for freedom. And oxygen.
Theyâre never hurting you~ overwhelming, yes. Smothering, absolutely. Utterly humiliating at times⊠unfortunately~ but when they lean a large cheek into your small palm, pressing their mouth to every inch of skin, needing your touch, your warmth. No matter your size, your more then enough to them. Your heart warms when they look at you like the most precious thing in the world. Even if they carry you around like an accessory.
Five minutes turns into ten, turns into you losing count entirely~ because once the giant has you, time goes soft-focus. Their thumb keeps brushing your spine in lazy semicircles, and you forget you ever wanted coffee, or air, or dignity.
But eventually their stomach grumbles, an earthquake under your ribs~ and the spell breaks. âFood,â they mumble, as if the single word requires Herculean effort.
Before you can brace, fingers hook into the back of your shirt, lift, and suddenly your cargo. Your knees and arms dangle; the hem of your shorts flutters around your thighs. You sway against their thigh like a novelty purse while they stumble toward the kitchen.
âThis is my last good shirt! Youâre going to stretch it!âYou protest, naturally, kick, hiss, call them a barbarian.
They reply with a fond âMm-hmm,â and a pat to your backside so oversized it bumps your whole torso against their thigh. Each step jogs your organs; each jostle reminds you whose armspan rules this house. Yet you catch yourself grinning anyway, because being swung along, dangling from their hand offers the most ridiculous views: the fridge handle is a skyscraper; the kettleâs whistle could qualify as weather.
They set you on the counter for a heartbeat, looking incredibly sleepy still, hair sticking to one side of their face. Eyes partially closed as they butter toast, then scoop you again, this time belly-down across their forearm. Your chest molds to the warm slope of muscle; your feet dangle over the crook of their elbow.
Your arms and legs instinctively wrap around the width of their forearm, ankles linking like some kind of monkey gripping to a branch. Your cheek rests in the curve of their palm like a fleshy pillow, their fingers smell of bread.
A thumb as broad as a paperback drifts up and down your back, tracing your vertebrae like braille. You melt, traitorous, into a loose-limbed sigh.
âThought so,â they murmur, pressing a kiss to the top of your head. They lean into the counter as they eat. Toast crumbs rain onto your hair. You grumble half-heartedly, but they finish their breakfast, then their thumb returns to continue stroking, and the complaint fizzles.
Later, on the couch, youâre promoted, if thatâs the word~ to pillow. They recline, haul you onto their chest, and then, with a heavy exhale they seem to change their mind. They then lift you to the couch cushion so that they may lower their entire head onto your torso. One cheek alone covers from sternum to hip. It is absurd. It is beautiful. Their lashes tickle your collarbone; their exhale warms the thin fabric of your shirt in waves.
You slip a hand, small as it is, along the line of their jaw. They nuzzle, eyes slipping shut, like a lion claiming sunshine. The pressure should be uncomfortable, but the trust in that weight is its own comfort. They could crush; they simplyâŠdonât.
âComfy?â you ask, voice wobbly beneath the load.
âPerfect,â they whisper, the word vibrating directly through your ribs. Then a softer confession, almost shy: âYou feel like home.â
That one sentence overrides every earlier indignity, the hoodie commute, the drool slick kisses, the threatened oxygen. Because no matter the scale, no matter the awkward angles or your reddening cheeks, youâre enough. Enough surface to kiss, enough warmth to chase the chill from their bones. Enough heart, small but stubborn, to steady theirs.
Sometimes that means being carried like a handbag; sometimes used like a teddy; sometimes a heartbeat under a mountain of muscle and messy, earnest affection.
Eventually your phone alarm chirps. Responsibilities beckon. But before you can wriggle free, a sleepy palm splays across your spine, pinning you with gentle finality.
âFive more minutes,â they plead around a yawn.
You huff, trace a tiny circle over their dimple, and grant those minutes, knowing full well theyâll turn into ten, then twenty, and that youâll pretend to complain the whole way through.
After all, being overwhelmed has never felt so safe.
This two part story is based off of an ask, the ask part of the story however comes in part two haha
This story is set directly after the events of 'What's Wrong With you?'
âSo where are we going?â Luke asked for the tenth time that day.
It had been a week since Luke and Jason had broken up. It had been a long and rough week with more than one mental health day off work and Matt simply couldnât stand the moping anymore. Deciding that his best mate needed some fresh air and sunshine and more importantly to get his ass off the couch. Matt had organised a weekend camping trip for the two of them.
âWill you quit asking me, what are you Five? I told you it was a surprise, didnât I?â Matt rolled his eyes and pressed his foot down on the accelerator in impatience.
âI just donât think itâs a good idea to go anywhere overly public in my current mental state.â Luke mumbled fidgeting with the cords of his navy hoodie.
In the last week it had been difficult to control his emotions, generally shrinking without warning and finding it difficult to shift back for long periods, hence the time off work.
âWe are going somewhere secluded and people free I promise, now quit bitching and navigate to the nearest gas station, I forgot to fill up before we left.â He knew where the gas station was but honestly just wanted to give Luke something to do.
They pulled up a short ten minutes later and Matt got out to start filling the car up.
âDo you wanna go in and pay and maybe find us some snacks, weâre still about an hour away.â Matt asked offhandedly.
Luke rolled his eyes. âYou gonna give me your card to pay or am I expected to fund this long road trip that I didnât ask for?â
Matt just smirked already knowing that Luke would cave.
âFine!â Luke grumbled and pushed the car door open to stomp toward the service station.
Luke was such a pushover and Matt knew it.
The automatic doors opened, and Luke headed for the snack aisle, he gave the cashier a small nod as he passed by. He browsed the small selection of choices, but something popped out at him that made him freeze and he felt his heart being squeezed.
On a display stand to the side was a collection of Reeseâs peanut butter cups, a bright sign telling the consumer that this product was to die for and on sale, the best deal, two for one!
Luke was frozen, watching the scenes flash through his minds eye of all the times heâd surprised Jason by gifting him this particular treat. Peanut butter cups were his favourite and often on sale like this. Luke would get two and they would sit up late watching movies, eating their favourite snacks.
Luke closed his eyes and took a deep breath, nothing worked, his eyes stung and his heart hurt.
Luke had known all of Jayâs quirks, his likes and dislikes to the point where he had at one time kept a stash of peanut butter cups in the apartment for the off chance that Jason would come over.
And now he was gone.
Luke wiped at the tears forming on his cheeks aggressively and opened his eyes.
âNo no no.â Where he had once been looking over the tops of the shelves he was now looking at the bottom shelf and still shrinking.
âStupid fucking emotions!â He glared up at the Reeses peanut butter cup stand before his attention snapped to the sliding door opening.
It was possible that it was Matt coming in to see what was taking him so long but it was also possible that it was someone else entering the store, without a second to lose Luke dived under the shelf that now towered over his head.
His breath came in sharp pants as he eyed the gigantic set of heavy leather boots thundering into the store, they werenât Mattâs and his brain began to go into full panic mode as they angled toward him. He watched with wide blue eyes as the boot only a few inches now in front of him tapped idly on the tiled floor, sending tremors through his body.
It wasnât the first time Luke had shrunk in an unsafe place but it had certainly been a while, these days he would usually have a family member or Matt with him and even when he didnât he had his phone.
His phone!
Luke searched his pockets finding only his wallet, heâd left the damned device in the car. His heart hammered against his chest, he was stranded in an unknown place surrounded by giants who had no idea he was there. There wasnât much more that could possibly go wrong.
There was some loud crinkling from high above and Luke held his breath as a small canister of pringles hit the floor with a deafening crash and then ominously began to roll toward him. Putting his arms out he stopped the canister from rolling any further, luckily pringles were light or he might have been flattened if it had been something like a bottle of milk.
Anyone else might have just rolled their eyes at their own clumsiness and picked up a different canister of pringles, but for whatever reason Lukeâs luck just continued to dwindle. There was a rush of movement and the sound of immense amounts of clothing shifting as the unknown giant crouched down and then a large hand was hurtling at him.
With all the effort in the world Luke held his breath to stop himself from crying out in alarm, and instead ducked behind the pringles and hoped the fingers wouldnât pry any further once theyâd found what they were looking for. Lukeâs eyes widened as the large digits spread over the top of the canister and very nearly brushed his head before they gripped the pringles tighter and pulled them back out into the light.
Luke fell to his knees and watched with relief as the giant stood back up and moved away from his hiding spot. Now to somehow get Mattâs attention, heâd have to come into the store at some point, it would only be a matter of time and then heâd be found and heâd be safe again.
Matt meanwhile had decided to have a smoke while he waited for his friend to come back with snacks. Luke didnât like it when he smoked in the car so instead he saved his nicotine hits for pit stops like this one.
Matt had found a park bench off to the side of the station, a playground was also there but heâd hardly consider it a playground when it consisted of only a small slide and one swing. Regardless it was the perfect place to wait for Luke to finish up in the gas station, with only one other customer having stopped for gas, Luke wouldnât be too long.
Mattâs eyes drifted to his phone as he took his last drag and crushed the butt on the ground, Luke had been in there for ten minutes, the other customer had come and gone what seemed like ages ago. Heâd received no calls or messages from Luke though but that didnât chase away the unease that was settling into his stomach.
Unable to wait any longer Matt marched toward the sliding doors and stepped inside the store, his worry only increased when his tall friend was nowhere to be seen.
âDid my friend come in here?â Matt called over to the cashier.
âI dunno, I saw him and then figured heâd gone to the bathroom or left.â The older man shrugged and focused back on his computer once more, thoroughly unbothered by his friendâs disappearance.
âCome on Luke, where are you?â Matt murmured to himself, he turned toward the bathroom, it was possible he was simply overreacting and Luke had just gone to the toilet, he could hope.
He took a step toward the bathroom and then froze when a positively miniscule cry of alarm could be heard from his feet, every inch of Mattâs skin tightened, and a sick feeling washed over him as he dared to look down, hi sneaker still hovering mid-air.
Luke was also frozen, heâd been so relieved when Matt finally stepped into the store that heâd run out hoping to call up to his friend or tug at his pant leg to get his attention. Heâd completely forgotten how dangerous an unaware giant could be, even a friendly one, Mattâs booming voice had rattled through him causing him to pause and then everything happened way too fast.
Mattâs sneakers turned in his direction and then rose above him, unable to hold back a scream of fear as it glided over his head and then froze mid step directly above his head. Luke wasnât sure his little heart could take much more as his heart rate escalated once again.
What should have been a quick in and out trip at the gas station had turned into a literal nightmare for the broken-hearted size shifter.
Matt shifted his foot to the side and carefully placed it back down on the floor once his eyes landed on the small, huddled form of his friend as Luke cradled his hands over his head in a desperate attempt to save himself from being trodden on. Without wanting to raise suspicion from the cashier, Matt carefully scooped him up before pushing his way through the bathroom doors and locking it behind him.
âLuke what the actual fuck? Are you okay?â Matt was caught between frustration and concern but focused more on worry upon seeing his small friend flinch from his loud words.
âSorry dude.â Matt lowered his voice and raised Luke up to his eyes, scanning over him to make sure he was truly unharmed.
Luke curled inward hugging his kneeâs to his chest, the whole experience had been too much, from being dragged back to his heartbreak, to nearly being found by an unknown giant to nearly being stepped on by his best friend. Luke began to shake as tears and shame and guilt overwhelmed him.
âI guess I donât need to tell you how stupid that was, do you wanna tell me what happened?â Matt asked as gently as he could manage.
âNot here.â Lukeâs whispered words only just reached Mattâs ears and he nodded before closing his fingers gently around Luke and pushing him into his hoodie pocket.
His fingers stayed curled around his friend as he made his way back to the cashier to pay for the fuel.
âFind your friend?â The man asked gruffly.
âAh yeah, all good.â Matt said vaguely, tapped his card and then turned and headed back toward the car.
Once seated back in the drivers seat, Matt pulled Luke out and placed him in the centre console cup holder, he was still shaking and clearly upset but Matt suspected there was more to it then a near run in with his shoe.
âDid someone kick a puppy? Seriously, what the hell happened?â Matt asked as he turned the car on and pulled back out onto the road, the sooner they got to their destination the better.
âI-it was the Reeseâs.â Luke felt stupid, it all seemed so silly now and yet here he was six inches tall and that overwhelming feeling of loss and sadness had taken him over because of a peanut butter cup.
âWhat?â Matt asked leaning over a little as he drove to hear his shrunken friend.
âReeseâs were on saleâŠthey were⊠they were Jayâs favourite.â Luke said pathetically and couldnât make himself look upward to see Mattâs reaction.
âOh Luke.â Matt sighed putting the pieces together rather easily now.
âIâm sorry.â Luke choked on the sobs welling inside his chest once more.
âYou know that you donât actually have anything to be sorry about right?â Matt asked, keeping his eyes on the road as he spoke.
âWhat happened between you and Jay was not your fault, and what happened at the gas station was also not your fault.â As much as he tried to drill the point through to Luke, he knew that his friend wouldnât hear him at least not right now.
âI should have been in more control.â
âLuke Iâm gonna be honest with you.â Matt said quite seriously. âI donât actually know of any other person who is in more control of their emotions than you are. You canât be perfect one hundred percent of the time, especially after a break up, give yourself a break.â
Luke said nothing and the car was silent for a while as they drove, Matt hated the current sadness and tension that lingered about the car. There would be no convincing Luke so he tried a different tactic, changing the subject with humour, it always seemed to work for him anyways.
âSo my Auntâs daughter is looking for actors to play parts in her Peter Pan musical next month, I hope you donât mind, I put your name down for Tinkerbell.â Matt said as casually as he dared.
âYou did not.â Luke scoffed utterly unbelieving until Matt choked on a laugh heâd been trying to hold in.
âYou didnât! Matt tell me you didnât!â
âI mean itâs doubtful youâll get the part anyway, you donât really have the sassiness that comes along with Tinkerbell.â He explained. âThe auditions on Thursday.â
Matt felt a small object hit the side of his face and he turned to see Luke standing in the cup holder with admittedly a very pissed off Tinkerbell expression on his face and missing one shoe.
âDid you just throw a shoe at me?â Matt smirked.
âYou deserved it you gigantic ass.â Luke glared upward.
âGood luck finding that ever again.â Matt laughed.
âAh shit.â
Matt turned his head again to see Lukeâs body expanding slowly inch by inch, he pulled over to help his friend out of the now squishy cup holder and onto the passenger seat. They both held hope that Luke was simply growing to his human height, however there was always the possibility that he could go the other extreme and that meant heâd need a quick escape out of the car.
His growing stopped when his head almost brushed the roof of the car as usual and Matt smiled at him.
âWelcome back.â He said.
âYeah well now Iâve got one normal shoe and one tiny shoe somewhere in here.â Luke groaned, it seemed his âgiftâ would never ever gave him a break.
Luke muttered a thanks regardless of his annoyance, he knew full well what his friend had been trying to do and it had worked, and for that he was grateful.
With his mood improved they continued their journey, Matt soon turned down a gravel road that grew rougher and bumpier the further in they travelled. Â When their car simply couldnât go any further Matt stopped and turned off the car.
I am so glad Seanâs screen name is Jack because now I can twist Jack and the Beanstalk into a gt fanfiction about Jack and Mark. This class will never see it coming.
Vampire: perched ominously on top of the fridge like a rat looking for crumbs.
âOne day, I will kill you!â
Gym bro: flexing abs in the mirror
âOkay~ but like.. how do I look tho?â
This tiny, terrifying, centuries old vampire.
Blushed.
Turned away, actively avoiding eye contact with the veins popping down the length of the giants muscular neck, and murmured âYouâre disgusting...â
The gym bro just kept flexing. Maybe a little slower now. Maybe with a bit more intention.

Imagine being a giant just⊠lying there. Completely still. Head tilted back on a pillow, watching your absolutely feral inch tall partner straddle your upper lip like itâs their own personal sex swing. Theyâre grinding like their life depends on it, panting, moaning, using your nose bridge as a saddle horn for balance.. and youâre just blinking, eyes slightly crossed trying to track the chaos unfolding on your own face. Youâre not really into it. Not like that. Youâre not hard. But you do find it kind of cute. A little hot, in a weird, endearing, âmy tiny boyfriend is so fucking into thisâ kind of way. Thereâs something undeniably sexy about how much effort theyâre putting in, how desperate they are just to rut against your upper lip while you lie there like a very patient, very amused terrain feature. Every now and then you hum encouragement, maybe puff a little warm air through your nose to hear them squeak, and when they finally finish, sprawled across the dip above your lip, chest heaving, youâre left smiling to yourself. Because watching them fuck your face like itâs the best ride in the world? Thatâs got its own kind of charm.
A warm breeze blew over Finns back, disturbing his wings as a large voice whispered into his bedroom.
Soon after another breeze blew across his wings disturbing them and waking Finn only a little with a scowl on his face at the intrusive awakening. He grumbled in response, pulling his sheets tighter over his body and refusing to acknowledge whomever it was that was adamant about disturbing him.
âFinn!â The whisper grew louder, not that it took much for Raidenâs voice to be loud and rumbling despite the whisper, Finn was sure his little brother had woken the rest of the house up anyway.
âCurse the elements Raiden, the sun is not even cresting the hill yet!â Finn groaned, rolling over to face the large blue eye that was blocking his window.
âWell actually.â Raidenâs deep voice held a hint of amusement as he stepped away unblocking the window and letting the warm morning light flood his brotherâs room.
âAh hells! Why didnât you wake me!â Finnâs gold eyes suddenly became alert as he all but fell out of his cot with a small thunk and hurried about his room looking for appropriate attire for the day.
âI did try.â Raidenâs face filled his window once more with a smirk on his lips.
âBlowing on me is not waking me, you know I could sleep through a hurricane, this is an important day! I canât be late!â Finn found his finest clothes, made specially by his Aunty Jezz for just this occasion.
A crisp white cotton undershirt and a skilfully crafted vest woven finely from the vines native to Donterra. Stitched into the delicate fabric were carefully detailed symbols representing each of the four elements.
Quickly he found the cleanest pair of black trousers he owned to complete his attire and hastily pulled up his dark auburn hair into a ponytail, letting his braid rest over his shoulder, revealing his age and maturity for the ceremony.
âI know.â Raiden said. âYouâre not late yet though, the otherâs are only just starting to gather at the castle.â Raiden could not hide his chuckle this time though, seeing his brotherâs eyes balloon once more and his miniscule face pale.
Finn flicked his wings and then darted toward his large window, Raiden stepped to the side and felt the breeze of Finnâs wings wash past his face as his older brother zipped quickly past him toward the castle.
âSee you there!â Raiden called, laughing to himself.
âNow why would you tell him he was going to be late, the poor lad is an hour early.â His mother chastised him from his feet, Raiden knelt still shaking with laughter.
His smile was infectious though and Thazelle found herself smiling despite herself and shook her head up at him.
âI only told him that the otherâs were starting to gather, which is true by the way.â Raiden reasoned, standing at his full height he could see beyond the city and the surrounds of the large castle.
There were indeed many Fae folk gathered around the courtyard, they may only be there helping with preparations for the ceremony, but they were gathered, heâd just chosen to keep that small detail to himself.
What were younger brothers for after all.
âGo find him, you may as well be early too and you can help calm him down before the ceremony if he doesnât smack you first.â She shook her head and sighed, turning back toward the house.
Raiden held back a groan, that had backfired on him, now heâd need to be dressed and ready too.
He stood and walked around the back of his family tree to the clearing beyond where he had built his own wooden structure. It was not enchanted like his childhood room used to be but he had built it with his own hands and he was proud of the space he had created for himself.
He found his own fine clothes, a pressed brown tunic and pants to match, vines he had learnt to weave himself twisted in delicate tendrils down his sleeves and over his wrists. Simple and nowhere near as extravagant as his brotherâs fine clothes but then again, he wasnât receiving his gift from the elements today.
Finally he pulled his own hair back, though instead of leaving his Fairy braid out, he wound his around his ponytail as he usually would.
A fairy braid was a sacred thing, it is created when a youngling has grown enough hair for it to be twisted, usually around a few months old. It then grows with the child and it is never to be cut.
Many Fae just let their hair grow without ever getting it cut but some do of course and in those cases all other hair can be cut but the braid must be left untouched.
It is a display of maturity and age, the longer the braid the older the fairy and thus the more respected.
If a fairyâs braid is cut, they are no longer respected amongst their people.
Raiden had only ever seen one braid cut, an elder man who had been neglecting his family and once discovered, his braid was cut and he was banished from Donterra never to be seen again.
Though Raiden knew he was different to other Fae folk, being a human after all, he still found pride in his braid as a symbol that he belonged here with his family.
âI swear Iâm going to wake you once the moons rise for the next year Raiden, I canât believe you let me fly off thinking I was late!â Finn had found Raiden walking carefully through the streets of their city, he was hard to miss.
âYou rushed off before I could explain properly, thatâs hardly my fault.â Raiden laughed, holding out a hand as a platform for his brother to land on while he continued toward the castle.
Finn sat cross legged in the broad expanse of his brotherâs palm and fidgeted with his vest, smoothing out the creases from flight and tucking in stray auburn locks that had escaped his ponytail.
âYou look fine Finn, relax.â Raiden said more gently, noting his brotherâs anxious behaviour.
Finn took a deep breath before turning to look up at his brother.
âI know, I know, Iâm just nervous, itâs not every day a fairy get the chance to meet the High Fae in person, for some it is only ever during their elements ceremony.â He began before looking toward the extravagant castle, the glimmering gold pillars that rose higher than even Raidenâs vast height was nothing short of intimidating.
âI just want to make a good impression.â He added more quietly, fiddling with his hair again.
âYouâll do great, Iâm sure of it, besides Iâm more looking forward to the celebrations afterwards, Parian and Danelle have hinted toward some maybe not so legal activities to welcome you into adulthood.â Raiden laughed softly trying to lighten the tense mood his brother was in.
âOh please donât remind me, Iâve heard horror stories of the initiation rituals, I just hope I make it through the night without completely making a fool of myself.â Though Finn joined in on the laughter, he was in all honesty looking forward to the after party as well and had been for months.
After today he would officially be man.
âIâm just grateful I donât have to go through the initiation process, I just get to watch you do it!â Raiden poked Finn in the side with a teasing smirk on his lips, Finn pushed his intruding finger away but didnât laugh, instead his heart fell for his younger brother.
Raiden was not like the other Fae, he was human and so would never have his own coming of age ceremony, he would never be blessed with a gift from the elements, heâd never have his own initiation into adulthood.
Finn knew his brother felt a little disheartened by this though he never admitted it, it broke Finnâs heart. His brother though a human was as much Fae as any other folk here, he belonged here. Finn just wished there was some way to include Raiden in these sorts of Fae rituals but the High Fae would never allow it.
âWe will have a celebration on your name day too, ceremony or not you are also entering adulthood.â Finn gave the squishy surface beneath him a pat and felt a rush of warm air wash over him as Raiden took a deep breath calming himself.
âThanks Finn but today is about you, Iâm just glad Iâm allowed to be there this time.â Raiden smiled down at his brother, appreciating what he was trying to do but Raiden did his best to put it to the back of his mind.
No use being upset about something he couldnât change.
He hadnât been allowed to attend their friends ceremonies but his Father had put his foot down when it came to Finnâs ceremony, Raiden was a part of their family and had insisted that Raiden be made to feel welcome.
âSo do you have any ideas about the element youâll be aligned with yet? Mother is a water alignment and Father is earth.â Raiden tried hard to shift the topic back to Finn and his own ceremony, Raiden was just as excited to learn what alignment Finn would be gifted with.
âYou donât always end up with the same alignment as your parents, itâs usually based on your personality.â Finn tapped his chin in thought.
âSo fire would fit you then.â Raiden quipped only to be smacked causing a tickling tingle to radiate through his palm, he fought hard not to twitch at the sensation.
âIâm only firey with you because you annoy me!â Finn snapped. âIâm calm and patient and so I think maybe water or air, but whatever element I align with Iâll be happy with.â He shrugged.
âRaiden.â One of the castle guards that Raiden knew as Rylo hovered before his face causing him to pause where he stood, they had just reached the castle borders.
âYou are early, we were not expecting you quite so soon.â He said gruffly, sharp face void of emotion, a skill most Fae of high nobility or importance seemed to possess.
âI do apologize, perhaps I can be of some help seeing as Iâm already here.â The last thing Raiden wanted to be was in the way, as so often was the case because of his sheer size compared to his fellow Fae folk.
âThere is nothing that you can assist with, we have cleared a space for you in the east corner of the courtyard, settle yourself there and donât move.â With that Rylo flicked his wings midair and flittered away back towards the entrance to the castle.
If Raiden had pointed ears like the Fae did then his would be tilting downwards as though heâd just been scolded. Instead his cheeks took on an embarrassed pink hue as he scanned the vast courtyard for his assigned seating.
âWhat a stick in the mud.â Finn shook his head at Ryloâs retreating form, after all these years it seemed that some Fae would just never be fully trusting of Raiden no matter how careful and mindful he was.
âItâs fine Finn, like I said, Iâm just glad that Iâm allowed to be here at all.â Raiden turned to the east corner and found a circle lined with mushrooms that he would easily be able to sit in the centre of.
This must be the spot that had been cleared for him as it seemed to be far away from the other Fae seating that was set up in neat lines, the fairy ring as right in the corner beside one of the massive gold pillars.
It was further back from the raised stage in front of the castle doors than he would have liked but he wouldnât be blocking anyoneâs view or be in the way at all, he would be able to see the ceremony just fine.
Raiden took his seat, folding his legs underneath him in an attempt to make himself smaller and tried to quiet the nervous flutter of his heart. This would be his first time seeing the High Fae as well.
He knew they had granted him entry to Donterra when he was a baby, though he didnât remember that interaction and was nervous about the impression he would make today as well.
Raiden let his hand rest on his knee and waited for his brother to disembark though he made no such move to do so. Content to wait there with his brother until the time came for the ceremony to begin.
A short while later Bracken and Thazelle made an appearance, Thazelle landed in Raidenâs hand beside her son and pulled Finn into a tight hug.
âAre you ready?â She asked giddily, Finn gave a small nod and let his mother tug him into the air toward the centre stage, he turned and gave Raiden a small nervous smile which Raiden returned with a reassuring thumbs up.
Bracken hovered before his youngest sonâs icy blue eyes and seemed to be struggling to find the words he wanted to say.
âFather, are you okay?â Raiden asked quietly, large irises filled with concern.
Heâd grown into a fine young man and Bracken was proud of him.
âIâm upset.â He said bluntly, struggling to hold back his emotions. âYou should be observing from the front of the stage with your mother and I, and yet after all these years they stillâŠ.â Bracken took a calming breath.
âItâs alright Father, I donât mind, I-â
âYou have every right to be here, remember that Raiden, you are just as much Fae as any other person here.â He reached out a hand toward his son and Raiden carefully extended his fingers behind his fatherâs back before hugging him gently to his cheek.
âThank you Father.â Raiden said quietly, his fingers releasing the slight pressure he had applied so that his father could take to the air once more.
Bracken gave a nod before joining his wife at the front of the stage, Finn standing tall in front of them and waiting to be addressed. The courtyard had now filled with Fae folk, witnesses to the alignment ceremony that was about to be underway.
âWeâre not late are we?â A voice called by Raiden left ear and he felt the slight weight of a fairy land on his shoulder.
He turned his head to see Danelle standing there followed shortly after by Parian who now stood beside her.
âJust in time, I think itâs about to start.â Raiden said.
âPerfect then, and we get the best seats in the house.â Rowen added landing on Raidenâs other shoulder and quickly making himself comfortable, his legs dangling over the edge.
His friendâs had joined him to watch the ceremony, instead of taking a seat amongst the other Fae folk, they had chosen to sit with him and that warmed his heart immensely.
âYou got everything ready for tonight?â Raiden asked quietly a mischievous smile on his lips.
âSure do, poor Finn is in for one hell of a night!â Danelle laughed before also sitting down beside Parian and quieting down as they waited for the ceremony to begin.
The glittering doors of the castle began to slowly open revealing four tall figures, each draped with gold capes, the High Fae.
The courtyard went completely silent in an instant as the ceremony began.

Notes: Please let me know if you'd like to be added to the When Your Wings Are Tired taglist.
Do you think you'd ever do taglists for your stories?
Certainly! If that is something other people would be interested in I can give it a go, I've never done a taglist before so forgive me if it's a little rocky to start with.
Let's start it on this post and see what happens :) Also just tell me if I'm doing this wrong, I'm kinda winging it.
Comment below if you would like to be tagged in my future stories or art. Please specify if you would like to be tagged in specific stories or just all future stories.
