Server Expansion Plan!
Hey guys, Ateam55 here. Over the past few months, many of you have probably realised that our current server is somewhat... lacking. Crashes have been frequent, I know, but (hopefully) as of next Thursday/Friday (19th/20th) this will all change!
Our current hosts, LethalDrive, have been incredibly good to us over the past 6 months, and allowed us to grow as both a server and, more importantly, as a community. However, a combination of expensive fares and a lack of support from the hosts themselves has led us to search for a new host.
And who did we find but BeastNode. One of the highest rated server hosting companies, but also one of the cheapest.
The Admin/Mod Team have now found the money required to pay for this new server for another 6 months, and we will see quite a dramatic increase in terms of performance, including the following:
2GB of Dedicated RAM (This is 4x what we currently have, and leads to...)
64 Player Slots - More users!
MySQL Databases - This allows us to use some of the more advanced plugins, like LogBlock.
Custom .JAR Files - We will get the server up to date as soon as the Bukkit Team have done their work.
Faster connection speeds - The server is going to be hosted in Paris, with good speeds for users both sides of the Atlantic. European users will see a dramatic improvement.
Mumble VoIP server - Server Chat! Finally!
New website - Details coming soon! (Any ideas? Talk to Brandon, who is our current Web Dev!)
The return of DynMap (GSMSLive Map)!! - Now we have more RAM, DynMap can do its job without crashing the server!
But wait, I hear you cry! What will happen to our buildings? Surely we will lose those?
You're wrong!
We are taking the server offline for 2 days as we are planning on moving ALL WORLD AND CONFIG FILES over from LethalDrive to BeastNode. This means the Hybrid, Pure and Create worlds, plus Nether and End. THIS MAY TAKE SOME TIME, BUT WE WILL BE BACK AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!
