Forgot to post new ref for Grym. They wear a collar that they've claimed has cursed them to be kobold instead of a dragon. But maybe they're a dragonwrought kobold?? Who knows.
Sometimes they can access their dragon form if they chew on that collar enough like a dipshit. But idk could be some weird polymorph/illusion situation? It is kinda strange that their collar doesn't have a latch though... Hm....
OWLBEAR FROM THE TOP ROPE!
Round 1 — Match 20 / 23 — Anna Lidwin vs. Grym
Anna Lidwin, also known as Sister Lidwin, is an intelligent Zealous Assistant trader in Act Two at the House of Healing.
"She makes the House of Healing feel more upsetting than if it were just Malus and a bunch of generic undead staff. There is something much worse about a nurse who still seems to think she is doing her job, still insists she can save people, and has no idea how far past saving they already are. That stuck with me way more than I expected. She gives that whole section an extra layer of tragedy, because the horror is not only “these people are monsters now,” it is “some part of what they used to be is still trapped in there and has gone terribly wrong.” And the note tied to her backstory helps a lot too - it makes her feel like someone who once actually cared before all of this rotted into what you find in Act 2."
"anna lidwin is one of my fave smaller bg3 antagonists bc she has that really good “ohhh this is gross and also weirdly sad” thing going on. like malus is full horror-show freak stuff, but anna gets me more in that queasy way where shes still acting like a nurse, still trying to fix ppl, still talking like this is all normal, and meanwhile its VERY much not normal. i also think she helps the arabellas parents bit hit harder bc it turns that room into more than just “heres 2 bodies”, theres this awful half-broken sharran nurse fussing over them like she can still make it better. super memorable. super creepy"
vs.
Grym is a powerful Adamantine Golem that eternally protects the Adamantine Forge. It cannot be damaged without becoming Superheated first.
"sometimes the best villain in the room is just a giant ancient metal murder machine that does not care abt ur feelings or ur build or literally anything except flattening you into paste"
Which antagonist do you prefer?
Anna Lidwin
Grym
'Grym'
I'll admit that I struggled with this one, and I've looked at it for so long that I'm not sure how I feel about it anymore, but i am glad that I drew it.
