Ive an idea in my brain I cannot shake: what if mr grizz himself is a salmonling? Someone who was digusted with what he had been born as, and sought to make something of himself while exacting personal vengeance on his specie that would have considered him disposable?
Oh i was talking with a friend about this possibility too! Man the amount of self hatred one would have to posses to abandon their species and then actively work against them..
But it would explain how he knows when salmon runs happen, where all the spawning grounds are, how he’s able to identify the bosses and different types easily, like it could be a possibility. I doubt the franchise will ever reveal what he looks like and prefer to keep it as a running gag but at least it allows for speculation.
Just the question about why he would work against them… wanting to live somewhere else instead of murky polluted waters? Feeling like his options are limited? Has a rapid disdain for salmonid culture? It could be really cool actually if it turned out to be true but also the implications he would sell out his kind like that so quickly is harsh
