And heres a little message so you can give a long response! About truth and beauty!
Wow hi sorry it has taken me a billion years to respond about truth and beauty.
I would agree with you that truth is infinite.
However, the reason I talked about truth and beauty being subjective is because part of consciousness is making value judgements of what we perceive. And although truth may be infinite, dogma and culture often run over our ability to perceive the grander, more perfect truth. This limits our search for such a truth.
For some, art is the window into a higher truth. However, for others, art is simply a replication of existing truths, and that’s why art is also limited in its search for truth and beauty. That’s also why when humans view art, our opinions and judgements are so varied. Some might find a slice of infinite truth in art, and others might think it’s just ugly.
(side note) Something I find fascinating is that as humans move forward in time, and as our consciousnesses evolve, our art becomes much more random. What we perceive to be beautiful and true has become more abstract, more random, more confusing. (thoughts?)
Ultimately what I’m trying to say is that even if there is a higher, more perfect truth, our values and morals often prohibit us from reaching it (which is ironic, because most values and religions attempt to lead us to infinite truth). This all goes back to a conversation we had a long time ago, about the two eyes analogy and consciousness. I still believe that because each of us experiences consciousness in such a different way, and subscribes to different sets of values, we are ultimately unable to compromise on a universal truth. So, even if one does exist, it is practically unreachable for our limited consciousnesses.Â
And THAT is why truth and beauty are subjective.
