“On a Roll” / The Photographic Journal

Well, here we are. My year-long residency for The Photographic Journal comes to a close.

This role has been an inspiring challenge for me, and a motivator of sorts during a profoundly unusual year. I wanted to wrap up my residency with a care-free sunset shoot featuring a few of my friends from all-female skateboarding community, GrlSwirl. These women exemplify strength and togetherness. I’m forever inspired by them.

But they also reminded me how important it is to keep moving and keep laughing. We’re all in this together, after all. Be kind to one another and enjoy the holidays. There’s a new day just beyond the horizon.

GRLSWIRL newsprint zine is now available in my online shop. Its 24 full color pages featuring photos and interviews with the founding members. GRLSWIRL is a skateboarding sisterhood based in Venice, California. They inspire women locally and globally, changing the future for female skateboarders. Documenting the members of GRLSWIRL has been such a fun ride. Its been awesome to see them grow as a collective and community.
