Enough with the gritty retellings, I wanna see sunny reboots. Make a cheerful Punisher. An optimistic Game of Thrones. Give us a happy-go-lucky Old Boy

New definition of gritty reboot: the story is exactly the same, but one main character has been replaced by Gritty.
I'm insatiably curious about your gritty Help! reboot
Lol, there wasn't much more to it, but since I'm awake with migraine jetlag I'll give it a go.
Let's see: the shared house would be really dimly lit, like the batcave. They would have bleepy blinky panels that would only open if all four of them used their nuclear-code-looking keys
Are we still making poorly defined arabic terrorist organisations the big bad in gritty movies? (I admit, I haven't kept up). So they're a crack team of anti-terrorist agents who have a band, but they can never do gigs obviously. But they work out their frustrations and adrenaline by jamming together.
Paul is played by Sly Stallone
John is Jason Statham
Keanu for George
And fuck it, Ringo is John Cena
John and Ringo had a relationship a long time ago, but they Don't Let It Interfere With The Work. Until Ringo gets kidnapped by the racist stereotypes, at which point John endangers the whole team to rescue him.
George would definitely get a car chase scene. Paul would be mistaken for soft by a queer coded villain, whom he would kill in cold blood.
I'd love to hear any more ideas anyone has.
Bad film idea: Gritty Annie reboot. The orphanage is dingy and Oliver Twisty, but optimistic Annie manages to stay bright and sunny in a dark world. But when the fake "parents" scheme succeeds, taking Annie from Mr. Warbucks, she is left alone and penniless. Her sense of hope crushed by this mistreatment and the loss of the only chance she had to escape, she grows up to become mistress of an orphanage herself, perpetuating the cycle of abuse and cynicism on another generation.

Artist Justin Bryant created a series of posters of what board games would look like if they were given gritty movie adaptations.
