Flying Buffalo founder and Origins Hall of Famer Rick Loomis died last week. Several fundraisers remain open to cover the costs of his recent cancer treatments:
A Bundle of Holding featuring all 7 of the Citybooks, 4 of the Grimtooth’s Traps, the Treasure Vault, and Mercenaries, Spies, & Private Eyes
A gofundme page organized by longtime Flying Buffalo contributor Steve Crompton
Above, a few of the games Rick Loomis wrote or codesigned and published:
Buffalo Castle for Tunnels & Trolls (1976) Grimtooth’s Traps, as Executive Producer and Contributor (1981) Fred Saberhagen’s Berserker (1982) Citybook II: Port o’ Call, as Executive Producer and Contributor (1984) TOM: The Origins Metagame (2002) Weapons of Mass Destruction, for Nuclear War (2004)
See The Message.
Players pissed off the thieves guild? Time to send them a message.
A beautifully ornate spyglass with a fancy brass focus. The attached note states “See spyglass for message.”
Rather than see through the spyglass you see a blurred image...
As you turn the brass focus the spring mechanism constraining a large metal spike is released and thrust deeep into your eye.
Corridor traps, or how to make players so paranoid they can’t walk 10 feet without rolling another check (Steven S Crompton, from Chapter 2 of Grimtooth’s Traps Too, Flying Buffalo, 1982)
The legendary locations of Grimtooth’s Traps revealed! A DCC supplement that lets you confront Grimtooth himself in his own lair!
Stretch Goals
The last time Grimtooth ran a Kickstarter, it took off like wildfire. (I love fire!! – Grimtooth) This time around, we want to keep the Kickstarter simple and easy to fulfill. But we’re still adding a couple stretch goals in case you humans want to throw even more gold at Grimtooth!

Took a couple players up to the second floor of my wizard tower this morning. It was so much fun. I didn’t kill anyone, but one guy almost died. (He lost both arms, but someone found a potion to regrow them, but one arm only grew back halfway.) I was so happy when the warlock decided to try on the pair of boots she found.
The boots are from Grimtooth’s Traps Bazaar.
Living heiroglyphs, malevolent two-dimensional creatures from another realm that thirst for human blood (Steven S. Crompton from an idea by Osborne Lone, Grimtooth’s Traps Lite, Flying Buffalo, 1992)
A classic jump scare trope -- the body falling out of a closet -- gets a new twist with a zombie potion in a fragile bottle. (Steven S Crompton illustrated Kenneth Harn’s trap idea for Grimtooth’s Traps Lite, Flying Buffalo, 1992.)
