Sometimes, Jack could tell when things were leading up to Shiloh leaving again. Her nights would become more restless and sleep evaded her, her moods swaying towards irritable from the constant nagging of the ghosts that plagued her. It usually wasn't too long after that that she would disappear without a word and without answering any phone calls or text messages, leaving Jack to wait up and wonder if she was alright out there on her own. Where was she staying? Was she with anyone? A few times, he had thought about attaching a tracking device to her phone and maybe he finally would.

Party. It was the only word JJ needed to read for him to make the decision to hop onto his motorcycle and drive to Shiloh's parent's ritzy, high society property. He wasn't arriving with the intention to to join in, but to pull her away and save her from the boredom of taking part in a Kook party. Perhaps her parents were Kooks, but Shiloh had proven herself to have the heart and soul of a Pogue. She was one of the gang now, which meant gaining JJ's unwavering loyalty and inadvertently signing herself up for his scheming and sporadic ideas.

As long as he didn't get spotted by anyone who would have a bone to pick with him, it would be smooth sailing. The blond crept silently around the side of the house and onto the porch, where he stayed low and peeked in through the windows, moving from one to the next while trying to find the object of the self-chosen rescue mission. People in fancy clothes, workers balancing trays with alcoholic drinks, no doubt a lot of boring and pointless conversations that they pretended to be engaged in. Nothing of interest, except for maybe those trays of food laid out on the tables.

CARELESS, RECKLESS, SLOPPY. All of these are words that the family uses when reprimanding Johnny for his desire to kill people. They're just as guilty as he is when it comes to having blood on their hands, only he's different from them ; killing is a sport to him. He enjoys the thrill of the hunt, the waiting and watching, looking into their eyes as the realization dawns on them and fear strikes their heart. One day, it's gonna catch up to him, and one day he's gonna have to leave for their own safety. That's what they tell him, anyway.

Johnny brings the cigarette to his lips, his ears tuned to the broadcast playing over the nearby radio. The man's voice is sharing the news of another dead body that had been found, mutilated and matching the description of the previous ones a few weeks earlier. There's a smug smile that lingers on his lips, and his dark gaze cuts to the side as Shiloh pipes up in the nearby kitchen, her back turned to him while she busied herself with the dishes that Johnny let pile up.

A chuckle falls past his lips with a plume of smoke, and he's quiet for only a moment longer while he finishes listening to the news related to the murder he was responsible for. ❝ You gonna start in on me now too? Yer startin' to sound just like Drayton and my ol' lady. Maybe they'll like ya a little more for it, ❞ Johnny teases, his smile growing and crinkling the corners of his eyes. He can hear Drayton's voice in his head, throwing insults at him while his patience wears thin, always threatening to tell his mother about whatever trouble he got himself into. ❝ Or maybe they would if you could get me to listen. Trust me, doll, I ain't worried one lick 'bout nothin'. ❞

 𝐚𝐭𝐥𝐚𝐬 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝. no, absolutely not. if she meant it or not, shiloh let it slip that she didn ’t have a place to stay tonight. atlas wasn’t having any part of that. he’s not about to leave her without anywhere to go, not when he has a perfectly good house where she can crash.

 maybe she’s worried he has ulterior motives in mind. while he is attracted to her, his concern is not about that. he simply wants to make sure she’s safe, and coming home with him will guarantee that. he’s known her long enough now, he trusts that she won’t dox his address.

 atlas extends a hand to her, his fingers wiggling in her direction. ❝shiloh, please, my uber’s almost here. come with me.❞

          In the dark of the night, the apartment cloaked in shadow and dimly illuminated only by the soft glow of the TV, Ghost sat atop the foot of Shiloh’s bed, his gaze fixated on the other deceased being that lingered in the doorway. A knife was clutched in her hand, and Ghost had come to discover pretty early on that she was the spirit that Shiloh feared the most; the one that had been following her around since she was little, no matter what location she moved to. The idea of Mabel learning to make contact and harm her with that knife probably crossed her mind frequently, but at least Ghost’s presence tended to keep them at bay.

           ❝ Hm...I find it strange that she communicates so little compared to someone like me, or someone like Edgar. ❞ Ghost thought out loud, not bothering to say it in the form of a question since he doubted Shiloh would have a solid answer for him. For someone who was dead, he didn’t have a whole lot of knowledge on the subject. He didn’t even know that he’d passed by other lost, wandering souls before. In time, he had become a lot less talkative himself, but Mabel seemed to be of a different breed entirely. She was outright evil.

                          heavy that laid the key within the palm of her hand.       𝐎𝐍𝐘𝐗 𝐈𝐍 𝐂𝐎𝐋𝐎𝐑 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐁𝐈𝐆 𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐍 𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐏𝐀𝐋𝐌    it did not take her long to grow CURIOUS of its nature when she had fallen upon the floor as she had placed away her clothing. ever since moving in to her new apartment, mulan could have sworn the     𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐍𝐆𝐄𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐒 𝐎𝐅 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐍𝐄𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐋𝐃    had found her once more. the NIGHTMARES she had thought had ended, returning in full. 

                            the apartment had come cheap enough, making her feel at ease ingoing the sounds of creaking floors. yet weary enough to light INCENSES to help keep the     𝐀𝐍𝐂𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐒 𝐏𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐄𝐃.     still the calling of the     𝐒𝐊𝐄𝐋𝐄𝐓𝐎𝐍 𝐊𝐄𝐘    sang to her, enticing her for usage, begging to be placed within the doorframe of the living room courters until finally she gave in. 

                              light had given way, her lungs taking in a BREATH as she felt herself being pulled within a world she did not understand. blood tingled within her, the voice within her mind growing LOUDER with pleasure as the words    ❛ 𝔽𝕀ℕ𝔸𝕃𝕃𝕐 ❜     crossed her mind. blinking awareness had taken hold of her, the door gone and the key once more HEAVY within her palm.     𝐒𝐇𝐎𝐂𝐊 𝐂𝐎𝐈𝐋𝐄𝐃 𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐍 𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐁𝐎𝐍𝐄𝐒     as she dared glanced around, sounds of TRADE hitting her ear and the smells washing over her making her FEEL as if she were at a market. 

                              stepping from behind stone walls, she saw     𝐂𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄𝐒 𝐎𝐅 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐍𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓    those deep within storybooks roaming about, MOVING as they shopped for wares. her mind raced as she glanced down at the key, quickly moving to HIDE it within her pocket before moving to step forward, awe sparkling within her dark eyes. part of her wondered if she had    𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐏𝐏𝐄𝐃 𝐁𝐀𝐂𝐊 𝐈𝐍 𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄   only to erase such an idea when she saw the flicker of TECHNOLOGY. 

            ❝  what is this place... ❞   she whispered to herself, arms moving protectively to cover herself as she came to realize that she would     𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐂𝐊 𝐎𝐔𝐓   quickly enough should she stay as she was. with an intake of breath,    𝐒𝐇𝐄 𝐁𝐑𝐀𝐕𝐄𝐃 𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐄𝐋𝐅    for what lay ahead, before stepping forward,  knowing she had little CHOICE if she wanted to find her way back home.

Nights like this weren't entirely unusual. Luke was an unpredictable man with violent tendencies, his anger turning physical and his son often ending up as the target. It was why JJ found himself at the docks, laying in the good ol' reliable HMS Pogue : the boat that the Pogue's would often use for transportation. Tonight, it would double well enough as a bed. Or so he'd thought, until Shiloh stumbled across him and was stubborn to leave him be after observing the fresh wound on his bottom lip.
