HTLS upgrade enters financial evaluation under Latest power sector tenders
India’s pipeline of Latest power sector tenders continues to reflect a shift toward transmission capacity upgrades as Damodar Valley Corporation advances its HTLS reconductoring project to the price evaluation stage. The project focuses on upgrading existing 132 kV double-circuit lines by replacing conventional ACSR conductors with high temperature low sag technology.
In many Latest power sector tenders, reconductoring has become a preferred strategy for increasing grid capacity because it avoids construction of new transmission towers. By using HTLS conductors, utilities can increase current carrying capability while maintaining acceptable sag levels. Such upgrades have become increasingly visible across Power transmission projects reported in Indian Power news.
Five bidders initially participated in the technical stage. After evaluation of qualification requirements, three vendors were accepted while two bidders were rejected due to non-compliance with technical criteria. The qualified companies include Apar Industries Limited, JSK Industries Private Limited and Sterlite Electric Limited.
The scope of work includes survey of transmission corridors, design validation, supply of HTLS conductor, installation on existing towers and commissioning of upgraded lines. These technical steps are common across Latest power sector tenders involving grid modernisation and conductor technology deployment.
A corrigendum issued on 05 March 2026 announced the financial bid opening scheduled for 06 March. With only three qualified bidders remaining, pricing dynamics within Latest power sector tenders could be shaped by a narrower competitive pool.
