WRPC Reviews Digital Systems for Grid stability India
The Western Regional Power Committee has reviewed several pending telecom and control-system issues, including RTU availability below 90% at 23 sites, limited UNMS status coverage, SCADA/SEM mismatches, storage-SCADA separation and ongoing telecom follow-up actions. The agenda also references the Rs 411.352 crore, 6,776.1 km OPGW programme supporting regional communications infrastructure. While these items highlight implementation and monitoring challenges, the committee papers do not conclude that they caused any grid disturbance or system outage.
The review underlines the importance of reliable telemetry, communications and operational data as renewable integration and digital grid management continue to expand.
