It was funny to watch at first, but time has passed and now it’s getting on everyone else’s nerves.

“Just talk to her already!” Thor, once understanding, is quickly losing sympathy.

“And say what, exactly?” Loki snarls, knowing he would only embarrass himself.

The answer he gets is little more than a shrug.

Natasha offers a novel idea. “Why don’t you try complimenting her?”

The two brothers turn to acknowledge the third person, who has just moseyed in without a greeting and invited herself into the conversation.

She rolls her eyes. “(Name)’s at the salon. When she gets back, just say her hair looks nice. It’s not hard.”

Loki nods dumbly. Right. It’s not hard.

It’s too hard.

As soon as Loki sees you again, the compliment he’s been practicing turns to a dry stammer. “(Na-N-Name)! Uh, y-you, ah... I... your, um, h— your ha-hair, it, erm...”

You wait as patiently as you can, unaware that it’s because of you. All this time, you figured he had a neurological condition.

In your peripheral vision, you can see several other Avengers watching. That’s when it clicks.

Loki closes his eyes, takes a deep breath, and forces out his words on a shaky breath before making a break for it. “Your hair looks nice, (Name.)”

You blush a smudgen, and go about your day.

“So,” Tony drawls as he opens a beer. “When’s the wedding?”
