Im glad at least that no one was actually disqualified, though we will be sad to know that we cant try again next year. Hopefully there is no more botting and good luck to Starscream!

just-kicked-out stan still in his short treasure hunting phase having a big ol giant first-sight crush on Greg Universe after seeing one of his small beach concerts (which had a higher turnout than beach city but still didn’t see too many people)

imagine young stan hanging onto every line, amazed by this super cute guy and his cool wild hair and amazing voice. And then, hanging onto how cool and nice of a person Greg is when they manage to strike a conversation up later

imagine Greg thinking Stan is just the coolest for being a modern day treasure hunter and “living his dream” just like Greg was (because of course Stan would dress his situation up as such without giving the details)

and then, Marty comes over to gripe that they better get moving and stop talking to that guy if he’s not buying any merch (Stan turns out his pockets in embarrassment and genuine disappointment, he really would have loved to help Greg out. Greg gives him a free t-shirt anyways. stan wants to keep it forever but its ruined less than a year later when he’s not quite used to having to run from rioting customers)

Of course, greg leaves, soon to arrive at beach city. Stan leaves, soon to quit the unprofitable treasure hunting to the slightly more profitable but much more dangerous and scummy scamming industry. His memory fades with time, but the name “Universe” sticks with him as a vague fond memory. Likewise, Greg lives his own life with Rose and then with Steven, but keeps one of very few positive anecdotes of his short music career about this cool other kid who was a professional modern treasure hunter and owned his own boat, though in retrospect who knows how much of that was really true
