Many so called "Green" safe products have toxic ingredients in them. When a product is heavily marketed as green and has these ingredients we call it #greenwashed It is a really disheartening practice. But! You can rest assured at YBY that we will not use those or any products that do not align with our connection to Mother Earth! What's your favorite non-toxic product?? Environmentalism
Just finished reading this book and it brings up some well thought out reasons as to why our current method of trying to be more environmentally conscious isn't working; the way our global economy is set up just doesn't allow it. Our economy is firmly based in the concept that more is always better. Make more, buy more. However, this measure of growth just isn't allowed by the limited resources of our planet. Eventually more will just lead to there being nothing left. What then? In order to avoid this future of there being nothing left, our current way of living needs to change. One of the simplest things everyone can do is simply not buying more than we need. And corporations need to stop making more than we need. However, this is simpler said than done. Doing this means we need to radically change how our current economic systems work.
The three things we need to consider when trying to create a more environmentally conscious system of living that the author put forth are:
1. The system "must be able to peacefully coexist with other, different economic systems.
2. "must be nature proof"
3. be "locally based"
But yeah, this isn't a book report so I'll stop there. First book in a while that gave me something to think about
