Did you vote above the line in Northern Vic for the Liberal Party? Your vote helped get the shooters and fishers into Victorian Parliament. Voted for Labor above the line? You got the Shooters and Fishers cousin in: The Country Alliance. Labor and Liberal would rather have parties that support the killing of endangered wildlife and a distraction of their habitat and a subsequent chaotic parliament than the Greens. The idea of keeping the Greens out of parliament will prove very costly indeed for this government and for democracy. Always vote below the line to ensure you have control over your vote. #vicvotes #green14
Northern Victoria: this is why voting below the line matters. Because of the flow of preferences from Labor, Liberal and several micro parties, it is looking quite likely that two parties that want to see national parks open to shooting and a general free for all, will represent this region. More shockingly, they look like achieving this after the Greens got the third highest primary vote in the region. Voted for almost any party apart from the Greens above the line? You voted for this. Make your vote count by voting below the line. #vicvotes #green14
We need the Rowville Rail
First proposed in 1969, plans for a Rowville Rail Line are fully supported by the Greens and Knox Council, with Labor and the Liberals refusing commitment.
A $2 million ‘feasibility study’ estimated that plans couldn’t progress until rail capacity was built in Melbourne Rail Link and the Pakenham-Cranbourne line was upgraded. However, the Public Transport Users Association president, Tony Morton, asserted that only an upgrade to Pakenham-Cranbourne is required, as the capacity advantage provided by the Melbourne Rail Link is primarily to the Western suburbs, not the East. (Read more here)
The challenge with upgrading the Pakenham-Cranbourne line could be overcome through investment in new "high-capacity" signalling systems, such as those operating in cities around Europe. (See here for the full solution).
The Greens have supported the extension of the train line to Mernda for years and it's great to see Labor and the Liberals finally catch up. Now we need to see commitment to the Rowville Rail.Â
Rowville Rail listed as the main issue for #Mulgrave, but only #Greens support it! #vicvotes #Green14 http://t.co/vqosmuL9Di

With more Greens in parliament we WILL see this happen.
But why are the old parties refusing to commit? Perhaps if Daniel Andrews tried to travel from his electorate to Spring Street on public transport he’d realise how slow, congested and cramped the journey into the CBD has become.
