Backstory: Amiris grew up in the Common Realm in a regular commoner civilian family. He joined the Magic Knights right after he got his grimoire because he thought it would be an interesting experience (he was right, every day is interesting when you live with Jack). Within a year or two he was promoted to Vice-Captain due to being among the only squad members who could somewhat keep Jack from too much mass destruction.
While Amiris is generally a happy, calm person, he's often stressed and suffers from insomnia due to this. He rarely gets a full night of sleep and sometimes falls asleep in the middle of the day.
Amiris has also had a crush on his fellow Vice-Captain Kirsch for a long time, but never dares act on it because he thought Kirsch would reject him without a second thought because of the status difference. After he sees Kirsch making a genuine attempt to better himself following the Royal Knight exams, his crush only grows and he finally works up the courage to try and at least build up a friendship. He's become prone to nodding off on Kirsch’s shoulder when his lack of sleep catches up to him (not that Kirsch is complaining).
