CW: seizures
Beast Boy who still has Sakutia Fever and it’s symptoms. It’s not contagious, as long as he doesn’t bite someone or have anyone ingest or inject his blood. He’s knows from test Chief, which was basically just tricking him into attacking convicted felons, that no one can survive the fever. It was rare enough before with him being the only case, but the version running through him is stronger and acts much faster. What was usually a few days of agony became a few hours of pure pain running through the poor victims body. The symptoms are pretty typical, high temperature, fatigue, muscle aches and nausea. On top of that it causes rashes and peeling skin, stomach ulcers and seizures. Beast Boy is used to the feeling of being too hot and suddenly loosing his appetite or suddenly passing out from exhaustion despite not doing anything. The real issue becomes the issues is the ulcers and seizures. The ulcers he learns to deal with, learning what foods to avoid and focusing his healing factor to those areas of his body. But it hurts and causes his nausea to worsen to the point that he has to wake up several times a night to be sick and sometimes rush out of the room while in a meeting or at dinner with the team. It’s not until he has a seizure, for the third time while with the team but the first time they are witness to it, that they really start understand how extreme the fever is. StarFire freaks out and Robin has to take her out of the room while Raven lays him down flat from where he feel out of his chair at the table. Cyborg is searching everything he can despite already knowing a fair amount, talking to his best friend and telling him it’ll be okay, to not fight it and that they’ll be there the whole time. It hurts him and Raven to just sit there, watching and waiting while he thrashes in place. It’s terrifying but Cyborg doesn’t stop talking, even if the other can’t hear him. As he slows down, reduced to twitches and shivers, Cyborg starts to talk to him, not knowing that Beast Boy has had many seizures before. The two watch as Beast Boy starts to stutter out things like the date, his name, where he lives and what just occurred. He finally asks for a hug, wanting to feel something other than the tension in his body. The next day, after a long bath and a good nap, he explains his story and fever to them all.
