Last night we took the kids to The Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze at Van Cortlandt Manor in Croton-on-Hudson, NY. Van Cortlandt Manner located in Croton-on-Hudson, takes you back to the 18th-century with a beautiful landscape and an amazing display of more than 7,000 illuminated jack o’lanterns—all designed and hand-carved on site by their team of artisans! We toured the Museum of Pumpkin Art, where classic paintings are recreated using only pumpkins. It featured Frida Khalo, Andy Warhol, Edvard Munch and Edward Hopper among others get the gourd treatment. There was also a Pumpkin Carousel twirl, Pumpkin Windmill whirl and a Pumpkin Planetarium. You will see ghosts, goblins, skeletons, black cats, and even dinosaurs! for a star show like you’ve never seen. They even have a Statue of Liberty and the signs of the zodiac. None of this could have been done without the work of moe than 1,000 volunteers that helped scoop, carve, and light the pumpkins. Every single jack o’lantern is hand-carved on site by their team of professional artists. Take a look and share.
