The former Hyde Park station in Hyde Park, #NewYork. The station was built in 1914 in a combination of the Mission and Spanish Revival styles by Warren and Wetmore, the New York Central Railroad's preferred architects. Because of its close proximity to Franklin Delano Roosevelt's estate, Roosevelt is known to have passed through the station twice during his presidency; in 1939 when he greeted King George VI and Queen Elizabeth of the United Kingdom on their 1939 visit, and posthumously in 1945 when his body was unloaded there in preparation for burial. Regular service ended at the station in 1953 and it was no longer listed as a station in 1958. By 1975, the station was abandoned and heavily vandalized. It was one day away from demolition when the Hudson Valley Railroad Society took possession, entering a lease agreement with Hyde Park.
