Grayjeel FanFic Chapter 1
Gray sat down heavily on the bar stool, rubbing his sore shoulder in annoyance. Natsu had been rather rough during their fight. Heâd never admit it, but that last skirmish had kind of hurt. The Fire Dragon Slayer seemed a little irritated today. Of course, that didnât excuse his behavior, but Gray decided to let it go this time. He wouldnât normally be passive when Natsu went too far in their battles but today he almost feared the rosy-haired teen would take his head if he confronted him about it.
So he merely walked away and ordered a beer, ignoring the worried looks Mirajane was giving him. Come to think of it, Gajeel had been acting similarly the past few days, sulkier than usual and with a much shorter temper. Everyone avoided the two Dragon Slayers for the most part, trying to stay under their radar. Who knew how violent theyâd get.
The doors to the guild hall opened and Gray turned slightly to see Gajeel walk through the large double entrance, looking very ticked off and too touchy to approach. Not that he had any intention to. He was much more worried about what would happen when the two Dragon Slayers met. Neither of them had been at the guild at the same time for the past week. Mostly it was Gajeel that stayed away, so the fact that he was here was a surprise.
Gray watched the seen unfold from the corner of his vision, ready too bolt if they clashed. Gajeel and Natsu glared at each other for a good five minutes, onyx boring into ruby, before growling and looking away. Natsu took a loud seat beside Lucy, who looked thoroughly confused, and Wendy, who cocked her head in curiosity.
Gray was a little surprised when Gajeel stalked toward him and plopped down on the stool next to him, despite the rest of the bar being empty. He guzzled some of his drink while the Iron Dragon Slayer simmered silently, magic power rolling off him in waves.
In all truth, it was unnerving, being that close to such an incredibly powerful wizard who was also very irritated for reasons known only to himself. And probably Natsu.
Gray glanced over his shoulder when he heard a low growl, emanating from a glaring Dragon Slayer who was now standing again.
âGaaaajeel, â Natsu called, a hint of a snarl in his tone, âWhat are you doing? â
Gajeel turned and narrowed his raging scarlet eyes. âWhat does it look like Iâm doing, Salamander?â
âGet out.â
âOoh, make me. â the Iron Dragon Slayer was sneering now, leaning against the bar counter.
Gray furrowed his brow. What were they spouting off about now?
But in seconds Natsu had moved from his table to loom over the other man, eyes glaring furiously. âI was here first, Kurogane. â
Gajeel stood and stepped in front of Gray. âI think I should be allowed to drink in my own guild. You canât keep me out. â
Natsuâs stare seemed to reach a new level of intensity that made Gay flinch involuntarily. The Fire Dragon Slayer noticed this and turned his attention to the Ice Mage, which made him more than a little uncomfortable.
Gajeel glanced back too, and there was something in both their eyes that made him want to run away. But heâd never admit to that thought. Stupid pride.
Instead, feeling pinned under the combined stares, Gray sat rigid in his seat, not even daring to fidget, afraid it would trigger something dangerous.
But then Gajeel squared up to Natsu again, glaring at the Fire Dragon Slayer with renewed ferocity. The look the rosy-haired mage returned said, âchallengeâ.
âYou want to go that route with me, Salamander? We gonna do this while heâs oblivious? â
Gray blinked blankly when he was suddenly included in their conversation. What? What was he oblivious to? What was he out of the loop on? Everyone else looked just as confused as he felt, except Master Makarov, who hopped down from the second floor onto the bar counter.
âAlright, you two, thatâs enough. If youâre going to fight, take it somewhere else. I donât want the guild to be destroyed again.â
Gajeel growled, a low menacing sound in the back of his throat that Gray had never heard before. It sent shivers crawling up his spine. But the Iron Dragon Slayer clenched his hands and stalked stiffly out of the building, throwing one last glare that shifted between Natsu and Gray.
Master was staring sternly at the other teen. âYou two, Natsu. Go clear your head. â
Gray fully expected the rosy-haired mage to protest loudly, but he just followed Gajeel out through the large doors, snarling in agitation.
Gray released a breath he wasnât aware heâd been holding, finally able to move. He looked up at the white-haired man. âWhat was that about, Ji-san?â
Makarov sighed and sat down on the wooden counter. âI hope that youâll never have to know. JustâŠ. be careful for the next few days, okay?â
âUm, okay, sure. â He didnât understand at all but Master seemed worried, so heâd heed the older manâs warning. He stood up and paid Mira for his beer before deciding to turn in for the day. He had some laundry to do at home anyway, despite never having clothes on long enough to get them dirty.
Neither Natsu nor Gajeel came back to the guild hall for the next few days, but in their place, Wendy seemed to hang around Gray more than usual. They went on an overnight mission to catch a runaway cat and sheâd sit beside him whenever they were at the guild, following him around even more than Juvia. When someone would ask the little Dragon Slayer why, she would just get really confused and say she didnât know either. She just felt something pulling her toward the Ice Mage.
Gray didnât mind for the most part. Wendy was quiet and good company and pretty helpful on missions. He had gotten used to her presence, even if he didnât understand any more than she did about why she was close to him all the time. But didnât really matter, until one day when both of the other Dragon Slayers returned. Because it was then that things got complicated.
When it started it was just Natsu and Wendy. The Sky Dragon Slayer had easily lost patience with the loud boy and snapped at him, surprising everyone in the guild hall. Even Carla was shocked at the small girlâs outburst.
Then the friction between them escalated into a nearly full-fledged fight. Gajeel walked in and only added to the battle of teeth and tearing claws. Gray had never seen Wendy so fierce before, nor had Gajeel and Natsu ever showed less mercy in a skirmish between guildmates. Everyone was getting really nervous.
Of course, it was only a few minutes before Erza stepped in and pulled the three of them apart roughly, smacking them each on the head, not even going easy on Wendy, who looked the most ashamed about the fight.
âJust what do the three of you think youâre doing, numb skulls?â The Titania demanded an answer, tapping her armored foot against the floor.
All three Dragon Slayers avoided her steely gaze sullenly. Wendy was the first to speak up. âNatsu-san started growling at me for being near Gray-san and IâŠ. I donât know what came over me. I just felt I had to protect Gray-san. â
âWhoa whoa, I donât need any protectionâŠ.â But the sentence died off at the end as all three Dragon Slayers whipped their heads toward him at the sound of his voice. Why? Why were all three of them acting like this? Why did it seem that he was the one in the middle of this?
The rest of the week was uneventful, but then something took a turn for the worse. Gray was enjoying a nice big breakfast at the guild, courtesy of Mirajane, when Gajeel strode into the building. Gray had gotten used to the auras of each Dragon Slayer, so as soon as he felt the mageâs dark presence, he tensed. Feeling a little dumb, he tried to play it off as a stretch.
But he couldnât resist looking over his shoulder as he did so. The sight that he saw, though, made the hairs on the back of his neck stand straight up. The Iron Dragon Slayer was staring at him strangely, stalking closer, scarlet eyes raking over Grayâs whole body.
He shuddered and turned fully too face the taller man, trying with all his strength not to shrink back as the other mage approached. This was weirder than the other times heâd seen the Dragon Slayer throughout the past week or so. There was something like dark determination shadowing his gaze as he looked over Gray.
Gray froze when the taller ravenhead leaned down and captured his mouth in what was a painful mockery of a kiss. It was all teeth and rough hands in his hair to keep him in one place.
A shocked sound escaped Grayâs throat as Gajeel delved his tongue past his lips and grew was quick to push the bigger mage away, breathing quickening in surprise and confusion.
âW-what the heck, Gajeel?â He stammered, eyes narrowed. What had gotten into the Dragon Slayer?
But the tall manâs only reaction was to growl low in his chest and tighten his hold on Grayâs hair, dragging out a gasp of pain from him. Then, before he knew it, the other mage was hauling him out of the guild and down the street.
âGajeel, what are you doing?â Gray kicked out in protest. âWhere are you taking me?â
âYeah, Gajeel,â came Natsuâs familiar sneer from from the road, âwhere are you taking him?â
The Iron Dragon Slayer glared at the rosy-haired mage, his grip on Grayâs hair not loosening. âNone of your beeswax, Salamander.â He replied coldly, his tone holding a strong warning. âStep aside.â
Natsu spread his arms wide. âMake me.â
Gajeel dropped Gray with a furious snarl, another sound that sent a shudder up his spine, and leaped at the Fire Dragon Slayer. As soon as they were locked in ferocious combat, Gray found his chance to make a break for it, scrambling down a dark alley that he knew to be a shortcut too his apartment. He took this path everyday to the guild and made it back to his house in record time.
He locked his door and slid down into the rug, trying to calm his rapid heartbeat and racing thoughts. Why had Gajeel kissed him? Right there, in the middle of the guild. What was up with him? And Natsu was acting strange too. Stranger than earlier anyway. The two of them were probably still fighting. But over what? Gray? Why would they fight over him so seriously?
Gray sat in his two room apartment for another ten minutes before standing, leaning against the doorframe for support. Perhaps he just needed a shower and a good nightâs rest. Things would make more sense in the morning.
He could vaguely feel the Dragon Slayerâs magic power as he stepped into the warm shower, knowing instantly that they were still indeed fighting. Let then fight. Gray didnât care. He couldnât necessarily say it had nothing to do with him, because it seemed that he was in fact the subject of their battles. Which confused him more.
But even more confusing was Gajeel and the kiss they had shared earlier. Gray touched his lips as the warm water beat against his back. They felt a little swollen and there was a cut on the bottom skin where the other mageâs sharp teeth had punctured the soft flesh.
He didnât know how long heâd stood there, hand on his mouth, but the water had gone cold.
A loud crack that sounded suspiciously like snapping wood startled Gray from his mind, violently derailing his thought train. That sound had definitely come from his apartment. He quickly wrapped himself in a towel and snuck out of his bathroom quietly. He prayed it wasnât either of the people that he thought it would be, but, peering into his living room, he discovered that fate wasnât so kind. Because there, standing in the middle of small room, was a very predatory Gajeel, arms crossed over his broad chest.
Gray swallowed nervously and stepped back, hoping the Dragon Slayer didnât find him. But, of course, as soon as he moved those piercing red eyes snapped toward him, narrowing slightly.
Then the chase was on. Gray bolted into his bedroom and close the door just in time to hear the sharp thud of Gajeelâs body against the wood. But the barrier between them didnât lat two seconds before it was blown off its hinges, throwing Gray against the wall with the force if the impact.
He hit the drywall hard, feeling and hearing it crack and break beneath him. Then he was scrambled away in his hands and knees, fear overtaking his senses and forcing him to keep moving. He dove onto the bed and then out into the living room, Gajeel snarling behind him all the while.
But then there was a heavy weight tackling him to the rug on the floor and his ears were filled with hot heavy panting and low growls. âDonât you dare run away from me again, Gray.â The Iron Dragon Slayerâs voice was as rough as the hands pinning him down, and his tone was very dangerous. âIf you do, Iâll have to punish you. Understand?â
Gray shook his head feverishly, fear tingling through his muscles. âNo, I donât understand. I donât understand anything. What had gotten into you and Natsu and-â
Sharp pain in his shoulder cut him off with a yelp as Gajeel dug his teeth into the flesh there. He growled into the bite and Gray grit his own teeth to keep from crying out.
When Gajeel released his shoulder Gray felt a low, hot snarl right before his ear, making him shiver involuntarily. âDonât you dare speak his name while Iâm with you.â
Gray opened his mouth to speak again, but the heavier mage pressed him further into the scratchy rug. He grunted under the strain. âWhat do you both want with me?â
âWell thatâs just it. We want you.â Gajeel replied, laying his full weight over Gray and earning another muffled grunt of discomfort. âThereâs really not much more to say on the subject. But I won, so after tonight, youâll be mine. â
Gray shuddered at those words, pushing against the Iron Dragon Slayer. âI donât want to be a part of this.â He spat, wriggling under the other mageâs heaviness. âSo let me go.â
âYou got no say in this, Ice Mage.â The growl quickly turned into another bite, this time a light one on the shell of his ear, pulling out a shuddering gasp as he licked it.
âS-stop.â Gray whimpered at the next bite. Thus one broke the skin just under his jaw.
âNo.â Came the one word reply in a tone that almost promised violence. Gray writhed as Gajeel flipped him over into his back and he was suddenly very aware that he only wore a towel around his waist. He pushed at the Dragon Slayerâs chest to keep him away but the other man had an overwhelming sense of physical strength that overpowered Gray easily.
Suddenly, his hands were trapped between both of their chests as Gajeel bent down to lick up the length of Grayâs exposed throat. He threw his head to the side and shouted as he felt more teeth in his skin. He felt more than heard the Dragon Slayerâs satisfied growl and whined as callused hands dug into his hips with bruising force. Gray hissed, clutching Gajeelâs shirt as the taller mage forced another kiss from him.
âStop resisting.â The Dragon Slayer growled menacingly against his lips, blowing hit air over the saliva-wet skin.
Gray shivered, clenching his jaw. âI donâtâŠ. I donât want this.â He breathed, chest twisting painfully with the frustration that heâd let the other mage get this far. âL-let go, GajeelâŠ..â
For a brief moment he looked like he just might release him, but then came a feral snarl and, âPipe down. â as he lifted Gray roughly and hauled him back into the bedroom.
The bed caught his landing, but Gajeel pinned him down again before Gray could regain his footing. Fear sped up his heart-rate and threatened to make him pass out as he once again found himself underneath the heavy Dragon Slayer. But this time when he struggled, his limbs felt like lead and refused to move. He vaguely smelled something unfamiliar but he couldnât place the overpowering scent.
Was it some sort of magic? Was it Gajeelâs scent? No. Gajeel smelled like metal and blood and generic soap. This smelled sickeningly sweet and made his body respond in ways he didnât want it to. It pulled him down into an abyss of pleasure every time the other licked his heated skin or delivered a harsh nip or bite that painted his pale flesh with blood. But it was when he started dragging his canines lightly down his bare throat to his collarbone that he really started writhing, his back arching off the sheets with a strangled cry.
Gajeel made a rumbling noise in his chest and if Gray didnât know better heâd swear it was a purr. But that couldnât be.
âYouâre so beautiful.â The mumble was so quiet he almost didnât hear it, but then again, with how close the kisses were too his ear he had doubts he couldâve missed it after all.
âIs that why youâre doing this?â Gray dared to ask, fingers digging into the other mageâs shoulders.
The trail of nips and sucks stilled. âNot entirely. Iâve been subtle about my desires for this long, but once Natsu started making his move I had to make mine first.â
That made Gray pause. âYouâreâŠ. desires?â
Gajeel rumbled again and nuzzled into the crook of his neck, inhaling deeply. âYou wouldnât believe me if I told you.â
Wary of his sudden gentleness, Gray relaxed a little into the mattress. âTry me.â The sentence came out as less than a whisper, the other mageâs breath hot against his neck.
Gajeel snorted and lifted himself onto his elbows, gazing down at Gray with something like adoration in his normally callous stare. âIâve been pining after you ever since I joined the guild. Iâve just been waiting for the right time. I wouldâve waited longer, personally, but Natsu had to go and screw up my plans with his raging hormones.â
Grayâs eyes widened in disbelief. âNatsuâs hormones?â
Gajeel growled. He was probably getting frustrated. âYeah. Itâs mating season for Dragon Slayers. Has been for weeks. Natsuâs only just come of age so heâs never experienced this before and Wendyâs to young. But when I saw you, my heart stopped. I wanted to take my time to woo you, but Natsu wrecked everything.â Now he was definitely angry.
Gray took a deep breath, calming his racing heartbeat. âThenâŠ.. take your time. Now that youâve made me aware of your feelings, take your time to woo me like you wanted.â The Dragon Slayer didnât look convinced but Gray pressed on. âNow that I know whatâs going on, I can better fend Natsu off.â
The look on Gajeelâs face was surprised to say the least. âThenâŠ.. you meanâŠ.. you donât mind me wanting to mate with you?â
To be honest, he hesitated. Was that what he wanted? Did he want Gajeel in that way? ââŠ.Yeah, I think if you woo me correctly itâll work out.â He grinned mischievously.
Gajeel gave a smirk at that and bent down to capture his lips again. But this time it was gentle and passionate and Gray kissed back willingly. It was much more pleasant and Gajeelâs hands held onto his bruised hips with a soft grip instead of his previously harsh one.
When he pulled away, he was still smiling. âI think that can be arranged.â
